Wherever we go, everyone knows it's me and my Arrow

Ah, Nilsson’s “The Point!” I’ve loved this ever since I was a child. Anyone else out there enchanted by this? I finally found it on CD (admittedly I haven’t been looking very hard) and I am simply grinning from ear to ear right now.

Favorite quotes:

Some day I hope my kid will get as much enjoyment out of it as I did when I was young. Hell, as I still do!

::singing:: Sit beside the breakfast table, think about your troubles… pour yourself a cup of tea, and think about the bubbles…

I have had the tape for years and love it! I used to show the film to my students every year. Think I will name my next pet “Arrow.”

I think that I remember that Dustin Hoffman did the narration.

Ah, I think you’re referring to the video version which isn’t yet out on DVD. But I’m getting it whenever it does! I’ve never seen it, but WOW I think I would positively pee like an excited dog if I ever got it. For the sake of civilized behavior, let’s hope I ease myself into it whenever it happens.

Thanks erislover! I will now have the biggest smile on my face for the rest of the week.

Second half, second chance, Poly come from behind
Hold that line, hold the line, hold the line
And then the rain began to fall
making fools of us all
So it ended in a technical tie.

Hey, and Ooblio’s adventure is narrated by a young Alan Thicke. How can you beat that? I loved that surrealist cartoon fable when I was a kid.

“A point in every direction is the same as no point at all.”

Great stuff! The Pointless Forest, the Count, Triangle Toss, and the Rockman, among others–I haven’t thought about them in years, but when I opened this thread, all the memories came back. I guess I’ve missed them!

At one time, I actually had the LP. Now, I’ll look forward to the DVD also, when it comes out.

Great stuff. I saw it on TV as a kid when it first aired. My Dad had the album. Hadn’t thought about it in a while. Thanks.

I haven’t been able to find my copy of the video for a while. :frowning: Great stuff! We did a unit on it in the 8th grade, with a big booklet full of projects, essays, etc.

At least I still have the soundtrack . . .

I LOVE The Point!

I have a home-recorded copy of the Alan Thicke version, and also an official VHS copy of the Ringo Starr one.

The Alan Thicke version is the one I grew up with, and therefore will always be my favorite.
