I splurged and bought myself a very nice car stereo system w/ iPod integration back in December.
Lately, I’ve had a couple of instances of really bizarre behavior from it – switching off on its own, cycling repeatedly through the input sources, and, a couple of times, the volume suddenly and uncontrollably increasing or decreasing.
Last night, the behavior was so weird I thought, “I’ve got to call the guys that installed this. I’m glad it’s still under warranty.” Maybe it was something simple like a loose wire, since the weirdness last night seemed to happen whenever I hit a bump (which was frequently, since our streets have more potholes than pavement right now.)
Then, in a blinding flash, it occurred to me. The stereo has a remote. The remote was on the front passenger seat. My purse was on top of it.

I moved the remote to the console, and I haven’t had any troubles since.
