You must fight fire with fire. Oprah is the one last hope for what’s left of the democratic party, but here’s hoping that both parties, refuse that they are, are washed away in our lifetimes! The TV war is on comrades… (If you’re from 1985, then tell me who’s president where you come from - Uh, Ronald Regan - gasp - The Actor!!!)
I personally like Bernie, and think he would make the best entertainment / debate / show. I think Trump will wipe the floor with him personality-wise, but it will be tough to beat up on an old man (like trump is young just because his hair is…) like Bernie and his platform / message resonated much more strongly with voters than anyone else by FAR in the previous elections (I would say since Reagan and JFK before him, no one has captured so much American political “zeitgeist”). So much so that Trump adopted much of his rhetoric, and talked of him very positively, and Hillary had to call in a lifetime of political favors to politically kneecap him and steal the primary, because it was “her turn, god damn-it!”.
Can he win? That is obviously the million dollar question, but his message and political rhetoric is so strong, and resonates so well, that I believe THEY will have to kill him to prevent him from sweeping the black, latino, and nascar votes. Basically he will sweep the poor demographics, all of them, he’ll also sweep the students/schools which means he’ll sweep the cities, and he will get the jews as icing on top to win florida, ny and the like. However, he is still an outsider (jewish, socialist, wealthy) and it is tough to imaging Bernie being as successful/persuasive with the rally approach Trump took with the “disenfranchised white” voters. That said, you can usually just say “what has he done for you?”,“did he keep his promises?”,“are you rich yet?” and the voters will recognize after the lettering wears off of the china made MAGA hat and the thrill is gone that “That f*er grifted us just like the last un!” and “I’m still a poor shit-kicker!”.
I have no doubt the the Kremlin has some really nasty dirty tricks up their sleeves for Bernie. For example, they could easily make a Communist Party card with his name on it. And a lot of voters would believe it. I wouldn’t be surprised if bernie attended a few red rallies in the past, either. Pictures of those will be hauled out or even photoshopped.
I think you’re seriously underestimating how conservative Jews can be, especially in Florida, but even in New York - and especially with older ones. I’ve witnessed a hell of a lot of Jews jumping on the Trump train. In the first half of the 20th Century, urban Jews were super active in labor unions and often had socialist leanings. In the second half, as they moved up the social ladder from blue collar to white collar, that became far less of a part of the collective Jewish cultural identity in America. To be sure, they still overall lean Democratic, but it’s changing, and the issue of Israel is part of it. And God knows Trump has pandered to that issue like nobody’s business.
I cannot see Sanders getting the “NASCAR vote.” You don’t know that demographic like I do. These kind of guys overwhelmingly buy into Trumpism. They bought into it before there was even a name for it. I’m not really trying to knock them, I’ve got friends like that, but politically they are really on another wavelength.
Sanders would probably get the Formula One vote though, buncha Euro-weenie wannabes.
