Which actor/actresses have not aged well.

No mention of Joan Van Ark? Oy.

I am convinced that Joan Van Ark was killed by a deranged, obsessed fan who has taken over her identity and is wearing a mask made from her face.

Oy is right. I think Death of Rats might be onto something.

In seriousness and to be fair, the linked article does make it sound like the look is the result of poorly done plastic surgery rather than simply aging badly.

I personally think Ford and Fisher both still looks pretty darn good, though it does vary a good deal from one picture to another.

The people who have had abysmal plastic surgery, especially the lip-plumping, make me retch. Melanie Griffiths was one of the worst.

Burt Reynolds is a cartoon.

Sophia Loren looks FANTASTIC.

Betty White is incredible.

Shelly Long was born in 1949.

Rachel Welch’s photo on wiki seems to show an unbelievable 70 year old.

I think a lot of the “leather” skin look (on other celebs mentioned in the thread) might be attributed to lots of time in the sun.

Probably. Sun’s a bitch.

Of course celebrities have spent more time tanning than the average Joe. People (caucasian people, to be more specific) tend to photograph better if they have a little color.

Want to look great in a photograph? Get a tan, go on a hard diet for a few days (to bring out the cheekbones), bleach your teeth, add some heavy pancake makeup, and voila! Trouble is, none of these things are a good idea to do all the time. Most of them are bad for your skin.

Look great today, pay for it in a few years. Fair trade-off?

Redford has very fair skin, and spends a LOT of time outdoors. Could explain it.

I second this! I said it recently, and when I saw him listed in this thread I was baffled. I don’t think I’ve seen a better looking 80 yr old. Maybe Regis, if he’s made it yet.

This one just about knocked me out of my chair! I’m old enough to remember Little House on the Prairie. Melissa Gilbert has that inhuman-faced, beestung lip look that everyone in L.A. has. I can’t figure out for the life of me, why they think that all that “work” makes them attractive.

We’re getting a lot of older actors in here over a longer time period, I’m going to pick one from a shorter time period.

Val Kilmer, 1995. Val Kilmer, 2009. It’s been a rough 14 years, man. But he also doesn’t seem to care, so it’s all good.

He’s gained a lot of weight, but he hasn’t aged badly. He would look great if he lost weight.

Edit: He has lost a lot of weight and looks very handsome.

Malcolm McDowell was quite the hottie in the Clockwork Orange era. Nowadays… not so much.

I saw Be Kind Rewind, and was surprised at how old Danny Glover looked, until I remembered that the last movie I saw him in was (I think) Predator 2, which was about 20 years ago.

This thread is so completely strange.

Newsflash: the vast majority of human beings are decreasingly attractive by conventional standards as the years pass! The more years, the less attractive they become, usually starting somewhere in their thirties.

About the only person I can think of who is, IMHO, more fundamentally attractive at 53 than she’s ever been in her entire life (when she’s in full makeup, but still good barefaced) is Ellen Degeneres. It kinda drives me nuts.

Not Elizabeth Hurley. She was actually kinda gawky when she was young (at 18 and 27) and she looks better now (at 37 and 46)

The age old question…

Mary Ann or Ginger?

I think Mary Ann wins this one.

And the concept of this thread is that some people remain attractive more or less than average as they age. This thread isn’t about people who simply look older over time (who doesn’t), it’s about people who look significantly worse than one would expect as a result of getting older.

Kathleen Turner. I believe she was seriously ill or something, but she basically turned into a man.
