I’d like to use an adhesive to put a patch on my backpack. Unfortunately, no one at my local craft store seems to know which adhesive to use, despite a whole aisle of glues. None of these glues say they can be used on backpacks, though a couple warn that they can’t be used on “certain types of nylon.” So I turn to you all and ask, which adhesive is best for sticking rather than sewing on a decorative patch (say, a National Parks patch) to a backpack? The pack is described as “210-denier Honeycomb CryptoRip HD nylon with PFC-free DWR,” if that helps! Thanks.

Consider using the adhesive for a patch of velcro loop on the bag and then fasten small pieces of corresponding hook to patches, placards, nameplates, ornaments and baubles. I’ve got a few bags and garments that already have this fuzzy area stiched in from the factory.
I once wanted to display a self adhesive label on a laptop-messenger bag in a similar way and simply used a magnet and 1" steel washer. I taped the washer to the lid of a clear plastic strawberry container, fixed the paper label to the other side and trimmed the plastic to fit the sticker. I sort of expected it to fall off but it held for a few years and I still have the sticker-plastic-washer-tape club sandwich on my refrigerator.
