Which Band Could This Be?

Perhaps ‘one of the best bands in the whole world’ is too subjective.

I continue to peruse my copy of The New Musical Express Encyclopedia of Rock (Hamlyn, 1978) for inspiration.

Good idea. I’ll pull Lillian Roxon’s Rock Encyclopedia (Grosset & Dunlap, 1978) off my bookshelf and join you in your research. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is happening. I have a friend who is friends with Bono (not to drop names, but it’s true), and he pretty much confirmed to her that a full Roxy Music reunion is in the works, with new music to come.

What would be the point? Their pants are hanging down around their asscracks and their ears are stuffed with them Ipads blaring out that Grungy Rap stuff.

The Kinks haven’t performed in ten years. The original lineup, not since 1969. In the past, Ray had expressed an interest in a reunion of the original lineup, so I’m still crossing my fingers on this one.

I think that’s a good call.

Derek and the Dominoes?
I don’t think they played together after 1971; hell, they hardly played together before that either!

Roxy Music released albums into the '80s, IIRC. But I like that idea.

There’s no band to reunite - it’s just Clapton and Whitlock. Carl Radle and Duane Allman are gone, and Jim Gordon is in a mental hospital.

Ah, indeed. I hadn’t realised their ranks had been thinned so much…

Blind Faith?
The Band?

Being a folk-rock fan, I’m hoping it’s Mr Fox. But it probably isn’t.

Yeah, it’s very sad. I think Clapton once remarked that it was down to just Derek and a Domino. Which is kind of funny, but if you’ve ever heard him talk about Duane Allman you know it pains him.

The Hollies?

I dunno, just guessin’.

Even if Helm patched things up with Robertson, both Danko and Manuel are dead.

Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green, maybe?

I saw Peter Green 3 or 4 years ago and, while he was coasting for much of the time, he did step up and play some great stuff a couple of times…

I see from Wiki that there has actually been a reunion announced by Mick Fleetwood!
Sounds a fair possibility to me…
Peter Green on Wiki

I would wager money on Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac.

Traffic? When did they break up?

mm

Nix the Yardbirds - Keith Relf is dead.

The Archies?

I don’t know for sure, but it looks like you guessed right. John Fogerty is definitely booked to play at Glastonbury, and it may well be that Stu Cook and Cosmo Clifford are going to join him for this gig.

Of course, Tom Fogerty died a long time ago (still on very bad terms with John- there was no tearful deathbed reconsiliation), so it’s not a REAL reunion. But 75% is better than nothing.

The Zombies? (Although it is more than 35 years since they last appeared in the original format).
