Personally, I don’t think the place hasn’t been the same since we lost the lease at AOL.
There’s not many posts here yet, but this place has definitely got some potential. I’d say that makes it better than the earlier versions. If not gone completely, they’re all locked in an immutable past. This place has a future.
Hmmm, well, new coat of paint, obviously, but no annoying [WHOVIEW] or animated smilies, and the controls are identical to the previous version. I vote, most assuredly, this board.

THIS is a vast improvement.
There’s no place like home.
No, no, no, the board hit it’s peak in the Late Paleolithic when posters were reaal posters, moderators werre real moderators, and socks were real socks. Why, back then all we had to keep a thread going was a handful of red mud and a handy cave wall, and I tell you ,wer we had better, more interesting discussions than you ever see these days! We didn’t need no internet, we didn’t need no electricity, hell, we didn’t need no writing system. We made our own fun.
This one, by far.
Aw, heck. The best board is the one where the Dopers are. The old board used to be best. Then the temp board was the best. Now this is the best!
::sniff::
Lord have mercy! I’m all sappy and shit over a message board.
The nicest thing about the temp board was the speed in which it loaded on my browser. The window jumps were almost instantaneous. There is still that annoying lag on this Board.
I have to agree with Greenie about what made all these boards great.
As for the vehicle, I’ll learn to use it just like I learned all the other ones. The software I like best is always the one I’m most used to. Gotta love the Close All Tags and Close Current Tag thingamajiggies. If I can remember to use them they’ll take care of 70% of my coding mistakes.
In response to your point, 5 time champ, this board has a whole lot of stuff on it. Way over a million posts, loads of threads. This makes it slower than the bboy board, but in the long run, the other board would have become much slower.
I forgot to respond to the OP, apologies all. I agree with Greenbean, home is where the Dopers are. Still I am glad that those moving, rolling, hammering smilies are gone.
Those animated smilies did have one good thing - they were the necessity that was the mother of the invention that caused me to figure out how to turn them off so they couldn’t animate any more. This policy, enforced over the rest of my browser, turned off loads of animated ads too.
::sniff::
I love you guys!

Nice an spiffy, this new site is. Those BBboy folks were nice but that site was killing my eyes – I couldn’t adjust the font size for some reason.
I think I’m really going to appreciate the vBcode buttons.
Actually, I miss the way it looked before the push pins!
I definitely have to say this board is the better of the two. And it looks all spiffy now, what with its new colors and buttons and all this other crap. Good to be back!
Ah, the best board of them all was the SDMB between December 7, 2001, and the Crash…Such brilliancy! Such erudition! Such wit! The Golden Age, when MEBuckner first became a Moderator! Alas, all lost, like Atlantis beneath the waves.
Moderator’s Note: And in the meantime, I think this is really more of a poll than a true debate, and as such belongs in IMHO.
Ahhh, it’s good to be back. The jackboots over there kept pinching my toes, and the truncheon they gave me was just this little lightweight, flimsy thing that could barely even give a concussion, let alone fracture a skull.
I liked the gavel smiley. It was great, you could pretend to be beating up other smilies with it!
So sue me, I’m a violent nut.
