Oh I don’t think you’re naive at all. I actually think you’re a very sound parent from other posts. I just know that I had the saaaaaame deal going with my parents - no tickets for a year - and darned if I didn’t get one roughly a year after I got my license. And then another and another and…I’m just trying to convey that just a few short years ago I was a diligent, all around great kid. Impulse control has little to do with other outward signs of maturity. The human brain is just not developed at 16, 17, etc. I’ve also known people T-boned in accidents with drunk drivers and high drivers (just cuts and scrapes on the people but cars totaled), so that’s surely influencing my opinion as well.
