I cant stand Mel Gibson because apart from being a weirdo he 's an anti semite,a hypocrite,a religious nut and apparently hates so many different groups.
I’ll make my declarations,I’m not Jewish, related to Jews or even actually know any as far as I know.
I also can’t stand Robin Williams, the ex?cocaine user who feels that being a comedy actor gives him the right to preach to us ordinary mortals on matters moraL.
I dont like Russell Crowe because he tries to play the "Hard man "in real life. as he’s a celebrity and as a consequence gets his arse kicked by ordinary people who don’t understand that being famous means that you should win bar fights.
He also bullies low paid hotel employees.
Probably unfamiliar to people outside of the U.K. we have an ex drag artist who has a teatime "people "show called Paul O’Grady.
I always remember a programme wher he was travelling in the far east, somewhere like Bali and he was given the courtesy of an audience with the local ruling family.
How did he react ?
He started mocking his hosts behind their backs.
One of his hosts(A young women)turned at an inopportune moment and caught him in the act.
She said nothing but gave him a look of utter contempt; not surprisingly.
He tried to laugh it off but it was pretty bleeding obvious that he felt lower then a dogs turd.
I have enjoyed some of Mel Gibsons films,I enjoyed Crowes "Master and Commander "immensely’ though to be quite honest there is nothing that P.O’Grady has ever done that has even remotely appealed to me.
So who do you totally loathe because of WHO they are as opposed to the roles they play or their entertainment quality?
I was a fan of Ted Nugent’s music when I was a teenager, and I can still enjoy listening to him. His bullying political ranting has made it so I can’t stand the sight of him personally.
I used to like Tim Robbins but too political. Same with Alec Baldwin (plus the chewing out his daughter thing) but at least he can make me laugh. Tonight on AMC they are running a Hitchcock marathon and his describing of Mrs. Sebastian’s unblinking eyes in Notorious (which I watch EVERY time it’s on tv) was hilarious.
I think Tom Cruise has redeemed himself with his performance in Tropic Thunder. He also seems to have laid off the psycho rants, at least in public, and anyway, a large part of me thinks that many if not most celebrities are a little freaky at the best of times.
Do directors count as celebrities? If so, David O. Russell seriously needs his ass kicked.
I try to keep in mind that we only see a scintilla of these people’s personalities, and everyone is entitled to have a bad day, etc. So it’s only when I hear of repeated assholery that I start to suspect something’s up. Mel Gibson and Russell Crowe seem to get a lot of complaints. Naomi Campbell can’t stop hitting her employees. I don’t know if that Lizzie Grubman specimen is a celebrity, but she seems like a nasty piece of work (after being asked to move her flash car out of a fire lane, she allegedly yelled “fuck you white trash” and plowed her SUV into a crowd of people waiting outside a nightclub).
I dislike George Clooney because he appeared on Johnny Carson (if it was still Johnny–I cannot now recall) just as he made it big and he made fun of his aunt, Rosemary Clooney–which, since she helped him break into show biz was ungracious, and he made cheap shots about her weight. Rosemary Clooney rocks for me, if only for her role in White Christmas, so Clooney needs to get over hisbadself.
I disliked Michael Jackson because he dangled a baby over the balcony in Paris (?) and IMO he was mentally ill, but “passed” as eccentric. I don’t deny his talent, but his lack of judgement outweighs it. Just my 2 cents.
George W Bush, because he seems to be smarter than he came across, and yet he was willing to let others “lead”.
The jury’s still out (for me) re Joaquim Phoenix.
Russell Crowe has pretty much redeemed himself to me. He’s always been a brilliant actor but his antics distressed me. But for a long time now he’s been a solid family man and stayed out of trouble. I think Danielle was very good for him. By all accounts he’s a really nice guy, and used to have the occasional anger management problems, but doesn’t seem to anymore.
I loathe Mel Gibson for all the reasons already stated and more, but Apocalypto was still my favorite movie of 2006, and I’m looking forward to his next movie, said to be “The Professor and the Madman” about the writing of the Oxford English Dictionary. Well, according to Wikipedia.
You’re currently holding a grudge for something he did 15 years ago, that you most likely misunderstood, considering that he adored and worshipped the ground Rosemary walked on, and HE’S the one who has to “get over hisbadself”?? Harsh. You’re like one of those people who’ll still be bringing up “Special Olympics” when President Obama is 85.
Along the whole ‘they’re flaming liberals in real life’ I would add David Cross. His comedy is genius, but what an asshole he seems to be in real life!
I’ll go with the Hollywood Scientology crew, incestuous little group of weirdos that they are.
Also Howard Stern. I think he’s just loathsome top to bottom.
I have heard really awful things about Gina Gershon that make me very wary. (Like trying to use her celebrity to barge her way into High Holy Days services at a very large and very packed New York City synagogue. Not cool.)
I have absolutely no time for Rob Thomas, the singer from Matchbox 20, either.
Tom Cruise. Gah. I saw Tropic Thunder, and he was amusing…but it did not undo the crazy. He needs to just go away. I have a hard time seeing Katie Holmes, too, because I just think about the Weird that is her life (and her spouse).
Kevin Costner is a douche. Seems to think an awful lot of himself, and his skill as an actor.
Madonna for all the obvious reasons (bitch, harpy, narcissist, questionable talent, etc.). She actually has a song or two that I like, and I believe Ray of Light would be a good album purchase…but I just can’t support buying something of hers. Ick.
Scott Stapp for his unashamed and unwarranted messianic complex.
