Is the “Mary Magdalene was Jesus’ wife” thing a conspiracy theory, or a wishful/hopeful myth? Whichever it is, I wish that were true (for, of course, the levels of historical “truth” that can be determined regarding biblical accounts). I think the position of women in society would be a whole lot different if it were true.
(my bolding)
You think so? I don’t. There are already prominent women in religious history.
9-11 - the ‘Truthers’. It’s ridiculously laughable that our government not only was so sophisticated as to pull off an operation like this, but also managed to keep it secret. If only our government was that competent - we’d win the War on Terror in months, have Iran contained, and bye bye Assad (Syria).
I wouldn’t exactly wish it were true, but I can understand why some people would want to believe that JFK was killed by a meaningful (if scary) conspiracy rather than just some random jerk.
Nah, they’re part of the secret Jewish conspiracy that rules the world, of course! That takes a lot of manpower.
Real–Bigfoot. Great house-pets, Dude.
Also real–Moon Nazis. FIGHT THE MOON NAZIS!! Finally NASA gets a good budget!
Not real–a government conspiracy to kill Kennedy or create 911.
If you consider organized religion a conspiracy, then I’d pick that. It would be nice if there was a guiding principle behind our existence.
Worst conspiracy to be true? Finding out Boxcar Willie really was a space lizard.
You’re assuming they want to win these wars quickly. Maybe it suits their purposes better for there to be an ongoing war with Eurasia.
Yes, I think a religion that accepted from the beginning that Jesus married a woman and that women were considered an equal part of his discipline team would have throughout the course of history held women in a very different regard than seeing them as fundamentally second-class citizens.
I feel the exact same way, especially with people who believe that factual things aren’t true (but without involving a conspiracy), which in some ways is worse.
Anyway, one conspiracy that I would like to be true is cold fusion, like the energy catalyzer, then we’d no longer have any energy problems (although other resources would still be a problem). Although I expect that normal “hot” fusion will become practical long before cold fusion is ever achieved, if it is even possible in any manner (particle accelerators smashing atoms together to make bigger ones don’t count).
This shows how the brainwashers got you. Don’t you know the black helicopters are part of the vast left-wing conspiracy of one-worlders who are just biding their time before the U.N. declares worldwide martial law so they can put our state-approved one child into madatory day care where they’ll beat the Christianity right out of us?
You still have your guns, right? Because the only thing keeping them from moving in on us is our 100 million 120-gaugers and a box of shells for each of them.
120 gaugers? I want one! I want one!
…And a nice concrete revetment to anchor it in when I fire it!
You may think it’s just a typo, but I assure you, THERE REALLY ARE 120 GAUGE SHOTGUNS!
And you didn’t know it until just now, and you can’t have one. That alone should keep you worrying.
If you consider existence a conspiracy, then I’d pick that. It would be nice if the world had no influence on you and you had no influence on the world. On the other hand, if “you” had influence on “me” and “I” had influence on “you”…
… planning on how best to take over/rule the world.
Mine would be understandable only by fellow Australians, but I’d love it if Harold Holt really did get taken away from Cheviot Beach by a Chinese submarine.
It’s not really a conspiracy, but since somebody mentioned bigfoot, I wish that the Loch Ness Monster really existed. The world is a poorer place without Nessie in it.
The higher the number the smaller the barrel diameter. 120 gauge would be about .33 caliber (0.33 inch diameter, if I did my math right) which isn’t very big for a shotgun. For comparison, a 12 gauge is about .73 caliber and an 18 gauge is about .63 caliber.
What you really want is a punt gun:
I wish there were a pill that cures everything and the FDA is suppressing it. I also wish I had a contact who can sell it to me for only $$$ per month. Hey honey, no more chronic fatigue!
I hope that the ‘US Govt. is behind 9/11’ conspiracy isn’t true - I have no reason to think it’s true, but if it were, that’d indicate a level of effed-up-ness that I really don’t want to live in.
GAAAGH! I came in to say this!
