My SO shaves; there are lots of examples and suggestions online, but the gist of his is: keep the area dry (don’t wet it) and buzz the area using a beard trimmer, around the shaft and the base of the shaft. (This is only necessary the 1st time or if you let it get really long in between shaving). Then, still dry, get in the shower and put on a thick shaving cream (NOT gel) and gently shave, taking extra care to pull the skin taut before each pass and to rinse the razor after each pass. He doesn’t do his balls or anything else.
I encouraged him to do it when we started hitting the sheets, because he’s literally part wolf down there and I was getting pretty irritated. Now he does it for himself because he loves the “clean” feeling.

While waxing or just straight up trimming is preferred for the more “precious” regions, I’ve never had an issue with shaving my ass. Doesn’t itch that much when it grows back, particularly if I keep shaving regularly, isn’t all that complicated, etc. I’ve never cut myself back there, which isn’t something I can say for my face.
The stuff in that link sounds like it’s completely fictional for the sake of comedy.

You’re not going to be “occasionally wiping a disposable razor on a towel”. You’re going to need to rinse it under water so the blades don’t get clogged up. Like a normal person does while shaving anywhere.

Do you know how bad it is to shave your face completely dry? Yeah, imagine doing that to your ass. Don’t do that. Just use the shower.

I’ve never noticed sweat collecting and there are certainly no “poop molecules” that are going to glue your cheeks together unless you are really, really unhygienic.
And just FYI, laser hair removal is NOT completely painless. I’m not sure I’d want it done in that area!
