Surprised William Jennings Bryan is getting so many votes against McKinley, I’d expect Dopers to despise him - a prohibitionist and staunch opponent to evolution, particularly through the Scopes Trial. Maybe he had some good points over McKinley I’m missing.
Indeed, most informative. I’m agreeing with most of the choices so far; in particular Frémont sounds like he’d have been a far better choice than Buchanan, even though he was associated with such shocking things as “womans rights” and “the equality of our colored brethren”.
