The ANGLERFISH or the BLOBFISH?
Anglerfish - The scary fish from Finding Nemo and Blue Planet.
Blobfish - Rare, and… Well, just take a gander at the thing.
This is a poll, I guess!
I just wanted an excuse to post a picture of the blob.

It looks like a blob of glup. It makes a sound like rabbits screaming, and smells of old, unopened rooms… It’s made of lip. It feels as if it had been dead at least a dozen days, but it moves about like monkeys and like shadows.
Ever since I first saw the anglerfish way back in grade school, I always thought it was one scary son of a bitch. My opinion remains the same.
Even though I read it was only found in the deepest parts of the ocean, whenever I went to the beach and into the water, I always would wonder if there’d be one smart-aleck anglerfish who’d crawl out of the deep just to bite me on the ass.

Well they apparently they only live in the deepest trenches of the ocean. So if you’re only there for 20 minutes…and it’s the '60’s, you’ll probably be all right.

I’m sorry, but that’s not gonna work for me. I’m sharing the same space as them (and I’m an uninvited guest) so I could catch the “weird-ass uglies” from them just by touching the water.
I must have missed the monkfish and rockfish pics the first time around. The monkfish kind of looks like it was somehow deboned without being cut open, or maybe what would happen if you ran over a normal ugly toothy fish with a steam roller. The rockfish just looks like a mildly ugly fish that was surprised, or (more likely) pulled up quickly form the depths of the ocean causing it’s innards to try and escape from it’s mouth and it’s eyes to bulge, which I guess would be quite a surprise.
Blecch, couldn’t they have stuffed the innards back into it’s mouth for the pics?
I’m having a reaction like Wile E here; I’m going to have to middle-click-close the Anglerfish tab, 'cause each time I click on it, I go ‘aaaaaaaaa!’
The blobfish just looks it’s losing a fight with gravity. Put him back in the water and see what shape he really looks like.
Rockfish - That’s pretty ugly, but kind of pathetic looking at the same time. Maybe because it looks like the fishermen strangled it to death?
Monkfish - Wow! If fish were roadkill…!
Goblin shark - I used to think this was ugly then it grew on me somehow. I mean, by the same standards we could also call the hammerhead shark ugly, but I got used to that one too.
I thought you guys might like some cute fish to look at, so I did a Google image search for “cute fish” and the blobfish was the first result. Oh well.
I am so sad to see the Rockfish on the list. Those beautiful fish are hauled up from great depths usually and fast that is the reason their guts are popping out. The ones pictured are likely 50+ years old.
Here is another old one. Ugly? Maybe. But it is probably over 100 years old pregnant and pulled up from 2100 feet.
The color of the fish is beautiful. Their eyes are a deep yellow. They taste great but sad to eat because of their age and the method of fishing used.
Slightly Better Picture The color is all screwed up on that sight. If you ever saw one in life you would likly take it off the list.
I didn’t realize it till now that I must be a fish lover because they all look so wonderful and beautiful to me.
The anglerfish looks kind of adorable in this picture, doesn’t it? It’s all round and puffy and squishy… it’s kinda like a mutant deep-sea Pacman. With teeth and a glow-in-the-dark headappendage. I want an anglerfish plush doll now.

I read the story about the old rockfish and it made me sad that the fish had lived that long, was still reproducing and had to die that way. I didn’t make the connection to the rockfish in the picture though but I also thought they looked sad, not ugly.
I don’t think the anglerfish is really ugly, it’s actually more frightening, not something you’d want to meet in a dark alley.
[sub]Hmmm … lightbulb Sometimes I wish I were Gary Larson and could do something with that. [/sub]
