Which media provider to buy? ( Netflicks/ Amazon Prime / Hulu / Etc. )

My Dearly Beloved™ and I have no normal t.v. No cable, no dish, nothing. We get our NYC-based programming through the air. Pretty interesting, those “secondary” channels. ( Channel 5.2 is “Movies !”, etc. ) Aside from watching college football and some NFL football regularly, we rarely watch any other programming.

We’re looking to alter that. Forget normal cable t.v.

What device/ service are you using? What do you love about it? What do you hate? What do you wish you had with it that you do not?

I’m just now investigating seriously and want to take advantage of holiday pricing on a service.

There is enough interesting programming that has been produced in the last 10 years that no matter what service we pick, I suspect we won’t run out of old shows/ movies for quite some time.

Please be as specific as you can be !!

The consensus I’ve read is that Netflix has the most and should be selected first, but that the services are cheap enough that it is probably worth subscribing to all three of them. In any event they all have free trials so check them all out.

I subscribe to Netflix for the Marvel series and I’ve watched it quite a bit to justify the expense. I paid for a year’s subscription to Amazon Prime for the free shipping and because it was on sale, but I have only watched a couple shows on it so far.

I get the most use out of Hulu plus but Netflix is worth it for the Marvel shows alone.

I’ve had Amazon Prime for years–for the cheap quick shipping. The streaming service is pretty good & the buy option is occasionally useful. (Agent Carter, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell.)

Netflix probably has the best selection. Hulu Plus is useful for current stuff–& some Criterion movies.

Enrolling in all three is still cheaper than cable. (I watch broadcast PBS, news & a few other shows.) I think Amazon has a trial option–Netflix & Hulu are billed monthly so there’s no commitment…

Try them all!

I have all three. Netflix has a separate kid’s profile so the kids can turn it on and find age appropriate content without help. Hulu keeps me up to date on the few current shows I watch. I consider Amazon a free perk included with a shipping package but it’s very good for renting movies inexpensively that don’t stream for free anywhere.
