A thread I was participating in when kaput. One can assume it was a footwear started one, but with 30 or so replies, I was curious if that was the case or it was a case of something else. So I took the matter to email, as I thought it was supposed to be done.
That was the email that was sent, and so far no reply. Did I send it to the wrong person? (a Mod of the Pit, who I do not name to protect there ID)
After every ATMB post regarding disappearing threads/posters I always see “use email” well I did. If it was a sock a simple, reply of “Yep sock, start another thread if you want to continue the discussion” instead of nothing. As I was 99% sure it was a sock, but what if it was something else and I started another thread and I got browbeat for starting another thread when the first one was deleted.
Click on a post, any old post, and make your statement, we’re sometimes capable of reading an email for content. Sometimes it’s just the vehicle for another issue. That’s fine, if that’s all you can see to do.
Or go to the Forum Leaders page and get the email address (s) from there:
Thanks Tuba, I realized what you meant. And it was appreciated getting back to me so quickly. And for a mug a year I sure as shit do not expect the mods/admins to jump at every email right then. And after looking around the mods area’s I see that particular mod has not been very active recently so one can assume they are busy in that place we call the real world.
I’ll clear up the mystery and reveal that I was in fact the lazy mod who never got back to you. I have indeed been busy and your email simply got overlooked. Sorry about that. You should have an email from me in your inbox by the time this post hits the thread.
If you don’t see something, it’s not “lazy,” it just means you don’t see something.
I can’t speak for the other mods but I get at least 100 emails a day, many of them about various kinds of Straight Dope business. I try to handle all of them as promptly as I can, but I also work a regular job and have other concerns and there’s never as much time as I would like. I don’t think I’m any more unusual than anyone else who works here. We do what we can as we can – and we hope that people understand that.
What I just wrote was not intended as a slam to Abbie Normal – or anyone else.
