I have now lost all respect for you as a human.
Are you implying that Twelve does NOT deserve to be spat upon?
DUDE MADE CLARA CRY IN HIS FIRST EPISODE.
How does that NOT merit a beatdown?
He was in Local Hero. He gets a lifetime pass.
Don’t forget poor Lynda with a Y. She escaped the Big Brother house on the Games Station and was eventually killed by super duper flying space Daleks.
And voted for Donna. She is the only companion who has all her growth and wonder stripped away from her.
And left in a state in which any return to growth will likely kill her, if I’m remembering correctly.
So that makes five. So nearly one every other season.
In fairness, Osgood was so deserving of a better fate that she counts at least four times. It’s not like she was Kate Stewart or something.
:: drains coffee cup in long slurp, slowly turns back to everyone and refills cup as if daring anybody to do anything ::
Rose, because as noted above, Donna was an shrill, annoying prat and ended up in marginally better circumstances than when she started. If you don’t remember losing anything what have you lost?
I would tie her with Amy…Mmmm, sorry what’s the question again?
They wouldn’t have been on the phone if the Doctor hadn’t dragged Clara into his shit again. She was on the phone to Danny to tell him about it. No Doctor, no phonecall, no dead Danny.
I didn’t like the guy, BTW, I thought the whole arc was ridiculous, from him as a boy to the whole “Ooh, I’m a killer so I’m giving up my Extra Life to save this boy” bullshit.
In my headcanon, the kid’s family are all dead and he becomes ISIL cannonfodder…
She went from shrill harpy to merely tolerable. That’s just the truth, dude.
And Rupert is a perfectly fine name. Rupert Graves, for instance…
It has to be Amy. Amy had her childhood interrupted by the Doctor and the show is not shy about the fact that him not coming back until she’s an adult more or less breaks her. When the Doctor comes back she’s basically a family-friendly stripper by profession (“Kissogram”). I don’t really want to get into a discussion about whether real life sex workers are “broken people” (I don’t think they are), but both by the circumstances under which it happened, and normal TV tropes, I think it’s implied that that’s what it’s signifying.
Add on to that that in Season 6 she basically has her entire faith in him trashed, her baby kidnapped, then subsequently became infertile which hurt her so much she divorced her husband so he could find someone else who could have a kid, she got screwed pretty hard.
I can’t really say Donna because while her ending sucks and is heartwrenching, her memory was gone, and she seems to have done okay for herself after her memory wipe.
Rose got a Tennant realdoll and her dad.
Martha didn’t really seem to be hit too hard by experiencing the end of the world.
You could make an argument for Jack, he had to live through Torchwood.
Clara is still going, but she’s had a pretty positive run. Only Danny got too screwed, but he got hit by a car. The stuff after that was only marginally worse, but him getting hit could’ve happened anyway. Yeah, the show makes a lot of pomp about Clara being “addicted” to the Doctor and him “turning her into an ‘Excellent Doctor’” but even for all that talk, she’s pretty happy with him. Hell, Clara got to prevent the destruction of Gallifrey, so that’s got to be pretty cool.
Rory had that whole “being a plastic Roman for 2000 years” thing, but didn’t seem to get too screwed up by it.
But as we discovered in the Master-race story, the Doctor had actually built in a failsafe for when she starts to remember stuff. And she wins the lottery and marries some poor sap she loves, so not her.
Rose had great fun and got a knock-off Doctor of her very own. So not her.
Martha…what happened to Martha in the end? I find I not only don’t remember, I don’t even care, so not her.
Jack’s not a companion anyway, and Mickey doesn’t really count either (he’s just a companion’s companion). River counts, but we can’t blame the Doctor, can we? No. So not her either.
Leaving Amy & Rory. Of the two, one got screwed over by their association with the Doctor and the other got screwed over by their association with Amy.
So it’s Amy.
This is why I’m voting for Donnas’ granddad Wilfred. He remembers and can’t tell anyone. He has to suffer in silence.
The more I think about it the more I’m going to have to go with Martha.
Not only did she witness the enslavement of all of humanity, she knew that her family had been tortured by the Master for an entire year. And on top of that, the entire rest of the world forgot so it isn’t as if she can talk about it with a shared community.
Oh, she told Mickey all about it. And you know Jack kept in contact with her, for at least three reason.
Amy also got her parents back. Pre-Doctor, she was an orphan being raised by an aunt and uncle. The Doctor restored her to a loving childhood. I know that didn’t get much attention, but it seems unfair to assign the Doctor blame for the bad shit and not offset it with credit for the good shit.
Orifices?
Martha Jones is a lady. I’ll thank you to keep a civil tongue in your mouth when speaking of her, Elf-filth.
