Which of Trump's political sins disqualifies him most?

Donald Jackass Trump has done and said a lot of outrageous stuff. Outrageous enough that a significant number of establishment Republicans have repudiated him, refused to endorse him, and some have gone as far as to say they’ll vote for Hillary Clinton.

Which of Trump’s political sins disqualifies him most in your opinion? Multiple responses allowed.

Poll incoming. I’ll try to think of as many Trump-outrages for this poll as I can, so it will take a bit. And I will forget some, undoubtedly. Forgive me in that case*, and please write in your own.

*Or, you know, not.

Defense of said outrages also invited. Good luck.

I don’t know all the details, but apparently he was in charge of a family foundation that, among other things, provided health insurance to the extended family. Trump has a nephew who has a severe form of CP, along with a seizure disorder. The brother who is the father of the disabled nephew challenged Trump on some detail of their father’s will, and Trump’s response was to cut them off from the health insurance. The nephew whose medical needs were extraordinary, including treatment for the seizures as well as therapy for the CP, had no medical coverage.

I’ll go with the fact he doesn’t know how our government works. Presidents aren’t allowed to write new tax laws, go to war all by themselves, and stop parole hearings for people (John (David) Hinkley Jr.). He doesn’t know what is allowed, what is federal or state.

He makes deals-- bad ones when it comes to real estate leading to bankruptcy and writing off investors and contractors to the point of gaining over 3,500 lawsuits against himself. He still continues to see the globe as a real estate market-- including Israel and Syria.

Have we ever had a Presidential nominee that had this many suits filed against them?

I’ll let others continue…

Dozens and dozens of other things, but these five would each individually be among the worst decisions the US has ever made.

I have to agree. We’ll see if these (or issues like these) take the lead in the poll.

It’s kind of hard to pick the worst among so many!

(It was hard even to keep the list to a semi-manageable amount. I could have included: cavalier attitude towards the First Amendment! But that is not quite as well supported as the others.)

You forgot the ‘All of the above’ option.

I left it off deliberately. Better to have people go over the list, and click as many options as desired.

You forgot:

Broad protectionist impulses accompanied by harsh anti-Chinese rhetoric and desire to inflict terror into legitimate businessmen by threatening absurdly unconstitutional attacks on their companies.

Yep, my bad. That should definitely be an option.

The racism/xenophobia combination does it for me.

Only the first one, NATO obligations. All of those other things have been attributes of Presidents we’ve actually had, some of them actually popular. But reneging on an alliance is just not done.

Come on, guys. It’s the email thing from today. I’m going to go write a post about it on Trump’s thread, but here’s a preview:

ETA:

Which other president called upon an adversary to commit espionage against his political opponent?

What the actual fuck? …

:smack:

Whatever. Moving on, nothing to see here…

It’s true. George Washington was often casually racist to black people.

This probably falls into the “Something I Didn’t Think Of” category - for me, it’s how utterly immature Trump is. He has the mental maturity of a spoiled brat. It’s all about him, him, him. No concept of what would be good for others or for his political party or other countries or anything. No, it’s all a “I want what I want and I’ll throw a fit if you don’t give it to me” mindset.

Have you seen the cartoons replacing Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes) with Trump? It’s so believable to imagine Trump as very much like a Calvin who never, ever grew up, or learned empathy, or ever figured out that there’s more to the world than himself.

Trump has the emotional maturity of a 6-year old.

Those are great. Very prescient!

The interesting part is that what’s funny in a 6-year old is utterly horrifying in a grown adult, especially one who has received a major party nomination for president.

This. Years before he ever decided to run for president, I considered Trump to be the most repulsive person on the planet. And now that he’s running, I believe his motive is entirely to manipulate the economy and foreign trade for his own personal gain.
