Which primaries are you paying attention to?

Today is primary day in many states. Which ones are you watching? Me:

MA-my home state

RI-rooting for hot First Lady

The Dem nomination for the Massachusetts 6th District. Tierney badly needs to go, but he needs to be replaced by another Dem, and this is the best chance of that happening. Gonna be close, depend on the pro-Moulton turnout to be higher than the pro-Tierney turnout, and on the other challengers not to split the vote too much.

NY especially. While it’s unlikely that Cuomo will lose, his running mate just might. And anything that takes Cuomo down a peg would be a Good Thing. He’s the sort of Democrat you need in a place like Indiana in order to win a statewide race, but we ought to do a damn sight better in New York.

Andrew Cuomo: Not quite as bad as Rahm Emmanuel.

Elvis: Tierney looks like he’s going down. So does Pell, for that matter.

Pell never had a shot, and I have no idea who advised him to get into a three-way race with two better known candidates. But I did get to meet Michelle when she kicked off a state-wide reading program at the mall. Perhaps he would have won if she had agreed to open the Providence skating rink each year with a free performance.

Tierney’s out. A remarkably weak-ass campaign for a long-timer, too - as if he didn’t really want the job anymore. Moulton did the right thing by focusing only on his ineffectiveness, not corruption. No idea how Tisei is going to attack Moulton, except with the usual “Democrats mean tax and spend” shit that will guarantee his loss.

The anti-Baker ads are out already, and will keep him from getting any more traction this time than he got the last time he lost.

The MA GOP had to scramble hard even to find a warm-body placeholder for Senate against Markey. I don’t even know the guy’s name.
