Cops
Papparazzi.
They are paid BIG money to invade your privacy…as in your face as possible.
Hmm. I’m gonna go with media critics, because they say things like the statements in the OP and somehow started this trend of blaming the media for everything from violence in the cities to the lack of a Grand Unified Theory.
Car salesmen.
I have almost never met an honest one. And it is just so unpleasant to be ripped off and feel like there’s nothing I can do about it. The last two cars I bought have been Toyotas and I bought them for one reason: they last the longest. I want to avoid car salesmen for as long as possilbe.
I’m sure we’ve all met an poor example in most professions. But that’s more the individual than the whole thing.
What we need is a ‘job’ which annoys everyone, requires no skill or training, has no prospects and indeed has attracted laws to restrict it.
3rd place: Telemarketing
2nd place: Telemarketing
Oh. I would tell you the winner, but my phone’s just rung…better check it’s not my elderly parents with a health problem…
Oh yes, “Insultants”, without a doubt. I think perhaps they are telemarketers who cleaned up nice enough to go out in public.
Lots of my unrespected profressions have been listed and I agree with much of what has been said about them.
Journalists (especially those who try to force-feed you their views and make it seem like if you don’t agree with them, you’re retarded)
Lawyers
Occifers of the Law (heh, heh)
Telemarketers / Spammers
Actors (see journalists)
And I have to add professional athletes here. Their salaries are exorbitant, just like the acting profession’s. Just plain ridiculous. Give me college sports any day…
I am boggled that no one has yet mentioned ministers or priests. Most of them fall into a scale somewhere between charlatans and idiots on either end, and don’t get me started on altar boys!
Fashion experts.
Hair experts.
Make up experts.
Basically anyone’s who job it is to tell people what’s hip and beautiful.
People who’s job it is to come up with new ways to create waste and overconsumption. Like the person who invented disposable toliet brushes.
Politicians.
I think a lot of folks get into politics as good people, but the nature of the system evaporates the soul.
Even if they weren’t asshole scum before, they usually end up as asshole scum.
Ditto. I’d like to add journalists for celebritie magazines like People, and Star, with crap on the cover of their issues like “POSSIBLE PICTURE OF J.LO AND BEN AFFLECK WEDDING” which is a very fuzzy picture of what appears to be either Bigfoot, a UFO, or the Virgin Mary. It bothers me people actually care about this crap too, so much in fact that we have at least 5 different kind of magazines in the checkout lane of the grocery store I work at.
Overachieving health standard lackeys. Thank you kind sirs, for
if it wasn’t for you and your hard work, I would be able to pick up a bread knife without putting on three gloves. I salute you.
TV Evangilists. Loud, obnoxious, and don’t know what the hell they’re talking about a good deal of the time. Esspecialy the ones that try to make it sound like God would want you to vote for either Bush or Kerry.
Whoever the hell decides what shows stay and go at Fox.
Another vote for telemarketers and spammers. They certainly have earned their places on the ‘B’ Ark.
Salesdroids.
I fuckin’ hate them. They’re smarmy and basically full of shit. They’ll do anything to convince you to give them your money in exchange for goods and/or services.
In a social setting, it’s easy to spot the sales people. They’re the ones who have taken over the conversation, while everyone else nods politely as the salesdroid tells yet another self-serving tale. They’re the sort of people that make me wish I could pull a  smilie out of my pocket and wave it in their faces. I also wish I could pull a baseball bat out of my pocket and wave THAT in their faces.
Yes, some sales people are the exception to this. My experience has been that there are very few exceptions.
Max.
This probably only applies in the UK, but : GP receptionists . Been in several different GP practices through moving house and I’ve never come across one who wasn’t obstructive and self-important. How totally untrained jumped up secretaries can be allowed to triage patients with potentially life-threatening medical problems is beyond me. Apart from my own personal experiences with trying to get an appointment with my doctor, I work as a nurse in a cardiology ward, and some of the stories my patients tell me make me foam at the mouth. Loathsome profession!
Loathsome what?!
