Which song from the last 10 years rocks the most?

When you ask which song from the last ten years rocks the most, there is only one factual, correct and legitimate answer.
Electric Eel shock: Rock and Roll Can Rescue the World!

James Blunt’s “You’re Beautiful” from 2005 just makes the cut.

Nope.

For a Sabbath vibe, try Witchcraft: It’s Not Because Of You.

The Sword have been mentioned; I’m fond of Astraea’s Dream with its gigantic riff and old-school soloing.

For your inner fifteen year old: Indestructible by Disturbed makes me want to draw robots fighting jet planes on the back of my exercise book.

For an Iron Maiden vibe with African rhythms, try Skinflint, a bunch of leather-clad black guys from from Botswana: Iklawa is a slow-burner with more old-school guitarism. Profit-Making Funeral is pretty damn good, too: nine minutes of slow-mounting glory.

“Hey Ya” Outkast or “Somebody Told Me” by the Killers. Perhaps “Float On” by Modest Mouse.

I have a couple more nominations:

Vicious Firs - Voices - OK, I might be biased, we’re on the same comp, but it rocks. Officially released last Sunday!

Electric Six - Gay Bar - Released in 2006, but I didn’t find out about it till 2009. I hold it personally against everyone who knew about this song before I did, but didn’t tell me about it. You know who you are. (Warning: video contains gratuitous Gaybraham Lincoln.)

Answer to Yourself - The Soft Pack

Coquette Coquette - Of Montreal

Catchy indie-pop-with-stadium-aspirations, but I wouldn’t say either one rocks.

The ones that would best qualify for me would be:

“Double the Pain” by Heaven and Hell (or Black Sabbath 2.1 if you wish) from “The Devil you Know”, 2009; and
“Breath on a Window” by Alice in Chains from “The Devil put Dinosaurs Here”, 2013

I was going to mention this song, and there are several from the last album Wasting Light…someone mentioned Rope, and Bridge Burning and Arlandria are good as well.

This is easy.

Japandroids - Nights of Wine and Roses

Another Avenged Sevenfold nomination – Shepherd of Fire

Missed the edit window.

Another one that rocks hard: Slash – Anastasia

Interesting. I also have that in my iPod mix of songs that rocked in the past decade.

Also (in no particular order):

Lit Up - The National
Banquet - Bloc Party
Runaways - The Killers
SING - My Chemical Romance
New Divide - Linkin Park
Radioactive - Imagine Dragons

Amon Amarth - War of the Gods (2011). Might be too heavy/death for a lot of folks, but hey… that just means it rocks even more!

More jokingly: Steel Panther - Death to All But Metal

Death to All But Metal is so rocking! Even if it isn’t meant to be serious. Don’t know why they gotta pick on Blink 182 though. They may not be their kind of rock, but they do at least rock in their own way.
