Which state is best represented on the board?

And before anyone gets clever, by “best represented”, I mean “has the largest number of members”. Yeah, I could of said that in the thread title…but I didn’t. :stuck_out_tongue: The reason I ask is due to the fact that I seem to see a greater number of “locations” indicating Texas (or some derivation thereof).

So, can one of the staff or a more techno-savvy member come up with the answer? BTW, I’m from the Lone Star state myself.

P.S. Ever notice that you can put a secret message in each of your posts? Go to your profile and input your message in the “homepage” section. It remains unseen until someone parks their cursor over the “www” button under your post.

My money is on Chicago or New York.
My ‘state’ has a grand total of 3 dopers. Only two of which are ‘active’

We could guess all over an IMHO thread. There was once a couple of threads where Dopers registered their locations and were pinpointed on a map. Would that help?

:confused: What are talking about? Does it matter what browser you use? I’ve tried several differnt messages and none do what you just said. In fact, when I remove the http from it, the www button disappears from my posts.

You know, I always wondered about the number of Tennesseans on this Board.

To the best of my knowledge, The Straight Dope has never been published in any Tennessee newspaper, ever. :confused:

Ohio seems to be pretty well represented also.

Statistically I bet VT does all right. We’ve got between 700 and 800 thousand residents, and I can think of at least five posters off the top of my head, and I know there are more than that. Let’s say there are 10 active VT posters. That’s more than one in every 10,000, not bad IMO.

Best represented by percentage of population? Or, by sheer numbers? Texas has not had, to the best of my knowledge, the benefit of a column started in a rather obscure northeastern publication, yet we’ve still mustered what I’d estimate to be several hundred Dopers.

If we’re going by number of posters per person who has electricity in their home, I think South Carolina is near the top.

I’m surprised by the number of dopers from Australia and New Zealand - as far as I know The Straight Dope hasn’t been published in any papers down under either.
