Gomer Pyle USMC (Sgt. Hacker bets Sgt. Carter $50 that Carter can’t go for 24 hours without blowing his top. Sgt. Carter’s trip to the mountains had me in tears)
The Honeymooners (The climax of “The $99,000 Answer” & “Chef Of The Future”
All In The Family (The one where the refrigerator breaks down; the flashback when Archie and Meathead first meet each other)
The Munsters (Herman & Grandpa get in an argument when Herman accidentally destroys Eddie’s go-kart and Herman paints a white line dividing the house up)
Married With Children (The first and second Christmas specials)
The Simpsons (When Lisa and a museum professor played by Donald Sutherland and others try to exhume the body of Jebediah Springfield; Chief Wiggum’s reaction is priceless)
Family Guy (Mr. Booze; Stewie tries to prevent Peter and Lois from having another child; the parody of The Real World—a CLASSIC!)
I can’t think of any episodes of sitcoms where I laughed that hard. I do remember moments that made me laugh. They include
“The Dick Van Dyke Show” (the episode where Rob suspects they brought the wrong baby home from the hospital). He opens the front door and Greg Morris walks in.
“Cheers!” (first season finale). Sam and Diane are having it out in his office. Sam opens the door to find everyone in the bar eavesdropping.
“Fawlty Towers” (the one with the Germans). **Basil: ** “Thank you, God, thank you so bloody much!” and “Right! Who’s this, then?”
“Hogan’s Heroes” (the one where Hogan convinces Klink that Stalag 13 is sitting over a pool of oil). ** Klink:** “At last: not only will I have a 500-year-old aristocratic name but some money to go with it!”
“Gilligan’s Island” (the one where the castaways think the island is sinking). ** Mr Howell:** “Quick, Lovey! Let’s see if we can’t think of a way we can ‘take it with us’!”
“The Simpsons” (the one where they go to a marriage retreat and Flanders complains that his wife sometimes underlines passages in his Bible instead of hers). Homer: “Hmmph! Good thing you don’t keep guns in the house!”
“Family Guy” (Lois stumbles on Stewie’s secret lair and realizes he’s evil). ** Stewie:** “So, Lois! The last horse finally crosses the finish line!”
Archer - Skytanic
It’s always sunny in Philadelphia - Wildcard bitches! (hmm i think it was called “the gang solves the gas crisis”)
Workaholics “her name was Roberta Paulson” (dunno the name of episode, the one were a coworker dies)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, “Band Candy.”
**
The Simpsons**, many, esp. the one where Ned Flanders tries to baptize the Simpson kids. Also, a different one:
Bart: Oh, let me handle it! I’m great at insincere apologies!
Marge: Bart!
Bart: (insincerely) Sorry.
Marge: (Suspicious grumble)
Quite a few King of the Hill eps. I’m thinking the one where Bobby might be the Dalai Lama.
It goes without saying it would be from Fawlty Towers. I’d choose the scene from The Psychiatrist where after setting up that the doctor is talking about talking a vacation, but Basil thinks he’s talking about having sex:
Doctor- “How often can you manage it?”
Basil- “I’m sorry?”
Doctor-* “How often can you and your wife manage it?”*
Basil- “About average”
Doctor- “Average? What would be average? Couple times a year?”
Basil just looks on incredulously.
Doctor-* “Once a year?”*
Again Basil can’t speak.
Doctor- “Well I’m not surprised. My wife didn’t see how you could manage it t’all”
Also, the Seinfeld episode called “The Contest” where they’ve all sworn off masturbating, with money riding on it, going to whomever lasts the longest without pleasuring him or herself.
Jerry, George and Kramer are watching a naked woman in the apartment across the way, and Kramer suddenly walks out. Jerry and George have a brief exchange, not more than a minute or so, then Kramer walks back in, slams his money down on the counter and says, “I’m out!”
If you reduce it to one line, “As God is my witness I thought turkeys could fly”. For something a little more complex, the entire Fawlty Towers “Don’t mention the war” scene. For a blend of sophistication and absurdism it has to be something from New Radio. Going the other way, for slapstick it’s going to be something from The Beverly Hillbillies.
Would you believe I have one from Everbody Loves Raymond?
It’s the Lucky Suit episode, where Robert has a job interview with the FBI.
His mom sends a fax to the interviewer explaining how she burned his lucky suit while ironing it, and to please understand how Robert might seem a little upset, and not let that ruin his interview.
After the interviewer reads the fax out loud, Robert sits with horror on his face for a long, long pause…
