I don’t know how much you like to micro-manage your pet, but I noticed my pet using skills/special attacks that it knew, but were not on the tool bar. (I have a spider. It was using webs to root mobs, but I didnt have the web skill on the pet tool bar.)
Generally speaking, I’d like to keep my mods down to a minimum, as I said I pretty much only had the Auctioneer pack in the past. I did use Group Calendar for a while, but now that there’s a built-in guild calendar I’m not gonna bother with that. I don’t really need any UI mods that are just customization for customizations sake. I’m just looking for advice on whether there’s any mods people feel have a big impact on general gameplay (like the one for Shaman totems that someone mentioned, or the pet bar issue I asked about), or by displaying useful info that you don’t normally have access to (the way Auctioneer and Informant do).
Yeah, according to Petopia (awesome Hunter resource), you can set things on auto-attack even if it’s not on the bar. I don’t micromanage a whole lot (I use a boar to tank and keep the enemy away from me), but even so I’d like to be able to put abilities on the bar. Apparently Blizzard’s said they’re gonna work on that, so maybe I should hold off on it.
ETA: Darn it, Petopia seems to be having server issues today. Any Hunters reading this who haven’t seen it before should check it out later on, once it’s back up.
Yeah. I don’t use any mods, but I’m not a raider.
I presume you could put “growl” and “bite” on auto-spam, and leave them off the pet tool bar. Just put the stuff you want to manually trigger on there. (I guess I should test that though.)
Sorry if I missed your point.
Ah, yeah, that’s a good point about the pet stuff.
And I’ve never been on a raid either (frankly, they sound like too much hassle for me, thought the 10-mans are another story), but I was in two small guilds that used guild calendar as a way to keep tabs on each other, plan groups for the longer instances, etc.
Yup, I updated them last night. And then I saw the Explorer achievements and spent the next 2 hours clearing all of Outland and Kalimdor. Ooh, shiny…
Looking forward to exploring Teldrassil with my Belf.
I got four of that zone’s areas back when my Tauren hunter was lvl 16ish. I followed a Petopia guide for “Horde hunters who want an owl pet”, died 6 times in the process, and did the “zone into the NElf capital and PVP flag yourself automatically” thing at some ungodly hour in the morning, to attract the least amount of attention from panicky Alliance newbs. (On a PvE server, but I figured someone might start killing the owls I tried to tame, just to tick me off.)
I had to download this patch on 3 computers…my son’s, my home and my office computer…and now to ugrade those pesky add-ons…
If you’re networked, you can just copy the patch .exe. Even if not, you could probably use a jump drive to move them around if you have one with enough memory. We have 3 computers networked, I have it set up to automatically background download on one, then just copy the Updates folder to the others. The Blizzard downloader will do a file check (30 seconds or less) then run the install.
Fortunately, I have a 70 Nelf rogue I parked at the AH in Darnassus on the same server. I figure I’ll wait until 2am or so, scout out the area with the rogue, and then if the coast is clear, it can be naked Belf sprinting time.
Thanks for the advice…I had a 4 gig flash drive that I should of used. Fortunately, I downloaded the other two times when I was going to bed at home and after hours at the office.
Also bear in mind that there’s no install involved as far as addons are concerned, so you can just straight copy the contents of your warcraft/interface/addons folder from one machine to another via usb drive. A friend of mine checks out, downloads & unpacks all his addons at work, then copies them to his thumb drive to install at home.
Actually, now that I’ve explored some on my Horde toons, the new zeppelin towers don’t actually have any engineers in them yet, only guards. I forgot to ask a guard about it, actually, like I did with Stormwind. I’m putting that on my agenda for tonight.
I actually dusted off some of my oldest toons, over on Hyjal, both of which are very close to 30. I actually dinged the troll priestess TO 30 last night. Unfortunately, she only has 6 gold on her. I sent my moo-id out to the newbie areas to gather all the herbs he could (and coincidentally dinging a couple of zones worth of exploration achievements) and I stuffed them up on the AH. We’ll see if my troll doll gets a raptor tonight.
There is a goblin up on the tower who tells you the zeppelin will take you to Northrend now. Err, in three weeks or so. I mean, he’s there now, but the zeppelin isn’t.
Hmm…I don’t know how I missed him. All I saw were Deathguards in TG and Grunts in Durotar.
And can I just note that every time I see this thread title, all I can hear in my head is Cleavon Little saying, “Excuse me while I whip this out”?
I suffer from altitis, and I’m often asked (and usually willing to) switch to another toon whose class is more adequate for the run at hand, so I have problems defining a “main”.
Apparently it’s my hunter. Cos when I read through the patch notes, I was jumping up and down in my chair going “five pets! five pets! YES!” Forget about increased DPS, forget about mo’ tankin’, I just wanted MORE PETS!
You could always read the Wrath of the Litch King manual.

Apparently, it’s in that patch, they just forgot to mention it…
Enjoy!
