While I download this obscenely large WOW patch.....

Yes, apparently the experience required to go from 60 to 70 is now 30% less than before.

So…I’ve tamed a devilsaur and a chimera…I must say,the chimera looks amazing…and the frost/lightening blast is huge in BGs. Haven’t used the devilsaur yet…but he’s ferocity tree so I think he’ll be good in raids.

I hate the scatter shot was taken out of Marksman spec and put into Survival…which is why I’m playing around with BM spec. It seems to me MM spec has been nerfed…but no conclusive proof yet…might be that other classes have become OP…because I was doing considerably less damage in BGs.

Anyone get obviously nerfed? Any new complaints about class upgrades floating around?

You must be playing a different game, because Blizzard has always done a great job with patches and expansions, IMO.

Nothing ever “goes to hell” with the small monthly patches, and even big problems (like yesterdays server crashes) get sorted out in a couple of hours usually.

Stop bitching about problems that don’t really exist. Stop dissing the fine people who brought us this excellent game.

Tonight was shakedown for some of the supposedly updated mods I have. I threw out FuBar…half of the addons that attach to it were out of date. Had to get rid of OneView(Bag,Bank, etc) because OneBank was being a bitch.

Went back to Titan Panel, and vBagnon (or some updated iteration of it). I’m still looking for a decent XP bar to replace FuXPFu…the Bartender XP bar is chunky, and I can’t scale just the vertical axis.

Couldn’t get Auctioneer or QuestHelper to work; will give them a day or two to update and try again.

I just want to say, as a Holy Priest, I am loving this patch. I haven’t done any actual, you know, healing yet, but just grinding mobs on Isle of QD was a joy. Holy Fire has been buffed, and my Smites were critting for over 2k for the first time ever. Holy Fire, Mind Blast, Smite, and dead mob. And best of all, I never had to drink once! I used to have to drink after every 3 mobs or so. This time I never even used my Shadowfiend for mana.

I’ve heard Circle of Healing has been buffed mightily too; I can’t wait to get in a party or raid.

Yep…I’m positive MM spec has been nerfed. I can’t figure out how yet but my crits are down and I’m getting my ass kicked in BGs. Luckily I have plenty of money so I can respec a few times till I get it right. Anyone know of any sites that give good spec examples… because now I’m just unsure which way to go?

My addons are totally borked and consequently I’m not going to do anything but easy dailies until they’re updated. I have Titan Panel and CT_Mod updated, but Auctioneer, Capping, and Healbot all aren’t 3.0 compatible yet.

The updated Paladin seal/hand system is great so far, but I’ll make a better assessment when I get back into BGs.

CT_Raid Assist is no longer supported and does not work properly following the new patch.

I used this to display raid groups, and liked it better than the in-game option to pull raid groups from the Raid window. What I liked most was that I could scale it way down; small enough to not clutter up my screen too much, but large enough to read names and tell who was what class. The in-game option doesn’t let me scale things down.

For some bizarre reason, CT_Mod does not have this feature.

Does anyone know of a mod that will do this, that works with the new patch?

Some people are way too addicted to their mods. I could go without most at this point–most of the best features have been built into the base UI by now. I’ll need to find a new ItemRack though–that’s a necessity playing a druid. Other than that though, I’m not missing my mods at all. Hell, I only even had Omen installed for the sake of the raid.

My essential mods are Auctioneer (which is working fine for me, are you using version 5.1?) to make my gold and a mail box mod to manage the large volumes I get (currently Postal).

I also need a bar mod. This is essential for Shamans with 20+ totems in additional to all the typical number of spells. I’m currently using Macaroon.

I had been using Cosmos for all the little utility mods that make life easier, but I can survive without. It’s gone defunct anyway, along with WowAce. I’m adjusting. :frowning:

These words…they’re English, but I don’t recognize any of it coherently.

Yes and no. If I were still raiding on my warlock I could probably live without bar mods. But not tanking on my pally. My unitframes likewise. Xperl gives me far more information than the default ones do. And it is a secondary aggro check for Righteous Defense. Likewise most of our healers are seriously hurt by not having grid (or similar running). Oh they can cope, but it adds additional stress.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s hilarious that WoW has their own version of WHOAR’s Tome Of Knowledge?

At least in WoW I don’t have the damn thing dinging every time I do something. Achievements seem to be fairly well spaced out for the most part. In Warhammer you got dinged for killing 10 zombies, 25 zombies, 50 zombies, 100 zombies, etc. It was pretty annoying.

Hopefully Blizz manages to keep the carrots on a fairly long stick, or it will get old here too.

Well, my guild isn’t raiding right now, so it’s rather amusing to see some of the mod whores try to make do without them. I keep expecting this one guy’s head to explode (unfortunately, he hasn’t been on much for me to see). But I’ve always tried to make do with as few as possible anyways, even eschewing some ‘required’ mods that were rather superfluous.

Capping is updated at WoW Interface (link). I haven’t hit a BG, but the setup works fine.

Healbot is also updated at WoW Interface (link).

Someone mentioned Omen; it was also updated a couple days ago and is working fine; the first version was behaving a little oddly with the threat warning, but there’s an updated version at WoW Interface (link).

Those having trouble with FuBar; the majority of the plugins I’ve used on it are updated or working un-updated with FuBar 3.0 at Curse, but searching on them can be a pain because Curse doesn’t seem to return partial matches. Try searching on FuBar_ or FuBar- with the plugin name (such as “FuBar_ExperienceFu”, which, btw, is better than an experience bar).

One thing I’d suggest for mod-users is picking up !BugGrabber and BugSack, as !BugGrabber prevents the annoying popup windows when mods are misbehaving, and BugSack provides a list of mod errors if needed. A couple mods, such as Pally Power, spit out an error or two, but are otherwise working fine. You can pick both up at Curse.

Thank you! I’d forgotten which mods I had before were catching the popups before they popped up.

One of the paladins on my server who tanks for us from time to time uses no mods, and I kind of envy the quick recovery time he gets to follow after each patch: so long as the game loads, he’s good.

Fantastic tank, by the way… go figure.

WoW is good at using ideas from other games. The Achievement system (and titles) and Barbershop are both straight from City of Heroes.

I’m gonna go ahead and paraphrase Pleonast here; “Blizzard is good at using ideas from other companies.” As a fan of the company, this is something I’ve seen a lot of their detractors say (I’m not saying that’s how Pleonast meant it). And honestly, I still don’t see how it’s a criticism. So they’re good at recognizing good ideas and incorporating it into their own stuff? That’s not a weakness, that’s a strength. Good artists and writers learn from each other, you don’t create in a vacuum. And if Blizzard’s more blatant about it than other developers, well so what? It’s one of the reasons their games are so great.

Fanboy moment aside, I’d like to ask a couple questions about the mod tangent.

1.) Is there a mod for the pet toolbars for Hunters? Under the new system the bar’s only having four slots kind of sucks. I’d rather not have to make binds and/or macros for every talent skill my pets learn.

2.) I used to use Auctioneer and the pack of accompanying programs (informant, etc) a long time ago, and I liked them. But for the most part I’ve been pretty happy with the normal UI. Now I don’t raid, and I’m not a heavy PVP’er. My highest remaining character is a Ret-Pally Belf in the early 30’s, and I’m going to need to get back into the game heavily so I can get a Deathknight when the expansion hits (pre-ordered a CE to keep up my collection ;)). Obviously those bug things Words on the Interweb mentioned will be good if I’m gonna get any mods, but is there anything else in particular that you guys would suggest for someone like me?

If you use mods heavily, get WoWMatrix. It scans all of your mods and then checks the Web to see if there are updates available. It can update all of your mods at once, and even gives you a list of mods you don’t have so it’s easy to find new stuff.

I’m using fewer and fewer of them, but I’ve got to say I was pretty darned lost when Bongos went away (I’ll be checking out its replacement, Dominos, shortly), and I had completely forgotten how awkward the damned bag/bank interface was since getting Bagnon.

The cool thing about Bongos/Dominos is being able to place your buttons where you want them, and VERY easily assign key bindings to them.
