While you're praying for people.....

I just got word by email that my good friend Marion died. She had just finally had the back operation she’s needed for a long time. She attended MediaWest con over Memorial Day, and was feeling wonderful. And now…

Marion introduced me into to world of fandom. I know a few people here understand that…for the rest, imagine a bunch of Trekkies for every show. She was the lead for the one fan convention I attend every year in Baltimore. I was proud to help her out, and she was a mother figure to many of us. I can’t imagine attending Connexions next March without her there to sign me in. Goodbye, Marion. Thank you for making this newbie feel welcome.

If you could send up one more prayer, dear Dopers, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

I am so sorry, Falcon. And, of course I will remember Marion (and you) in my prayers.

Falcon,
My thoughts are with you this afternoon. I can’t imagine dealing with any more sorrow right now. I’ll keep Marion in my prayers, I seem to be doing a lot of it lately.
Stay strong.

Sorry to hear your news Falcon. I’ll say a prayer for you and for your friend’s family.

I’m so sorry to hear this Falcon. My thoughts are with you and yours.

So sorry to hear that. You & your good Friend are in my thoughts.

Dear Falcon-

My prayers are with you. I guess the song I posted in Wally’s thread was meant for you to see. You have been given more grief this week than one person should ever have to bear.

You and Marion’s family are in my prayers, and my heart is with you in your grief. Feel blessed that you had such a wonderful friend, and that she had one in you.

Immortality lies not only in the children you bring into the world, but also in the lives you touch and forever change in a positive way. Both Wally and Marion will always be alive in your loving thoughts and memories.

May God bless and keep you-

Hugs,

Scotti

Falcon, I’m really sorry to hear that news. You have my deepest sympathies.

I will say a prayer for your friend, Falcon, and one for you as well. I’m very sorry for your loss, and sorry I have so many people who are dealing with great sorrow to include in my prayers tonight.

:frowning:

Your friend is in my prayers hon, so are you. This has been a bad week.

I don’t pray for the dead since I stopped believing in Purgatory. Their problems are solved. They don’t need our prayers.

Those they left behind are a different story.

[Prayers for Marion’s family and Falcon]

Since she was a Trekkie, I hope she didn’t go to Stovakor. That place looks like it sucks for non-Klingons.

Thank you, dropzone…that was the first good laugh I’ve had today. Maybe Marion got to go to where all the dead TV shows are, Like The Sentinel, and the original Star Trek. She would have liked that.

My most heartfelt condolences to you, Falcon.

I agree with those that have said that it’s always more difficult on the surviving friends left behind.

Be strong, be brave, and remember your friend well.

If you were an original Star Trek fan, then you must remember this quote, which is one of my favorite of the series:

“And if there are self made purgatories, then we all have to live in them. Mine can be no worse than anyone else’s.”

It sounds depressing, but taken in the context of the episode, it’s really very touching.
