It makes me wonder if any of her work was original, or if she’s just channeling her father’s ambitions with a crystal, a pyramid, and access to his web browser’s bookmarks.
Snicker, snicker according to Harvard her offer can be withdrawn.
While I could understand how a “non journalist” could make several mistakes, this girl is a blatant liar.
How can she claim to be intelligent, and yet believe that journalism standards are “more lax” because they “don’t contain footnotes or endnotes”?
Even in an academic paper, with footnotes, you don’t just write huge chunks of copied verbatim text from other people’s writing, without quotation marks and/or italics, and a little number or asterisk to link them to the footnote.
ALL STUDENTS KNOW THIS.
This girl cheated. She plagiarised. She lied.
You can’t have it both ways: either you’re too stupid to go to Harvard, or you’re intelligent enough to know what plagiarism is.
Is there any chance that the school could fail her if such plagiarism is found in her submitted work?
Presumably, in that circumstance, Harvard could withdraw their offer?
Please, please, almighty sky-pixie, let it happen.
Poor Merkin, cursed with a name like that, and, cheated out of his Valedictorianship (I made that up) by such a vile, snake.
Hornstine may have won the title of Valedictorian, but her own actions have ruined the legitimacy and value the title.
I wonder if she’d really be happy with a career in law. A change in goals would do her good. I hear there are some openings for interns at the New York Times.
She can only blame herself for this. She could’ve have gotten away with her cheating if only she had accepted the co-valedictorianship (sensu The Great Unwashed) with grace and dignity. And now her name is tarnished. That’s what happens when you act ugly in public.
If she cheated on her school work too can they revoke her diploma (and the busllshit “valedictorian” title)? How sweet would it be if she had to repeat her last year of High school.
I come back from vacation and find the wonderfully ironic news that Hornstine is a cheating plagarist! Where are her defenders on this thread now? I hope the high school does a very thorough investigation into her schoolwork and uncovers evidence of cheating/plagarism in that, too. And that they then sue her and her daddy for ten times what she sued the school for.
Got a link? This is the first I heard about the plagarism thing. I’d love to read and chuckle.

I know, I know.
So sorry.
I didn’t realize this thread had been resurrected before today, I opened it via a link in my email and it went straight to the last post.
My bad.
Woo-hoo! And people say there’s no such thing as KARMA.
UPDATE:
Due to the plagiarism charge, this gal has been disinvited from Harvard.
Now she’ll have to go to Brown! Do you hear me? BROWN! Muhahahahahaha!
So, how long before she sues Harvard?
Ooooh! MAJOR burn!
Karma is a wonderful thing, is it not?
A whiny bitch lawyer named ‘Blair’…
Sounds familiar…
Read it directly from The Crimson:
Blair uses uncredited internet sources…
Spooky…
For what it’s worth, I agree with the folks who put the blame on the parents. Yes, Ms. Hornstine appears ugly. But her parents must be behind most of this.
It’s terrible the way that some parents pressure their kids. I saw it happen to my own sister and it scarred her for life.
And by the way, I’m 32 years old and nobody freaking cares where I went to college or grad school.
Re: the $2,7 million in damages, sounds like the local school district will be playing major league hardball
And she didn’t attend the graduation ceremony either.
Hey, do NOT say such horrible things about my kinfolk.
Not all of us are lawyers.
