No. This season’s unfair whipping boy in the fast food industry is Arby’s; let a thousand cheap shots bloom.
White Castles = Yum. I’ve never lived very far from one. I currently live a 5-minute stroll away, so I suppose I take them for granted.
BTW, a couple years ago I made White Castle stuffing for Thanksgiving. Super easy to make and it was a huge hit.
mmm
didn’t WC open in Las Vegas?
unfortunately (still crying !!) WC closed all the NE Ohio restaurants, don’t know about all Ohio
Per
Nope, no Vegas. There’s one in Phoenix though.
That’s surprising, as WC is based out of Columbus, Ohio.
Eyeball their website location page which I cited. Lots around Chicago, St. Louis, and NYC. Some down the spine of IL & IN. A couple outliers in tourist meccas around the country. That’s it.
Clearly they’ve lost a lot of the Midwest.
Phoenix is closer to NM than Vegas. (Well, there’s Las Vegas NM, but that’s another kettle of Gus Fring’s fish stew.)
There are several. I’ve been to the one on the Strip.
At the Casino Royale!
I dunno if they have liver, but those onion pieces look like tiny bits of rubber.
That’s odd. It’s a different web site than the normal one (which doesn’t show the Vegas locations), and the copyrights are assigned to “White Castle Vegas.” Almost like it’s a different company with a licensed product.
I assume it’s a framchise that runs its own marketing operation, much like how Dairy Queen Texas and Taco Time Northwest basically function as an independent operation from the national chain.
That’s the Best Western Casino Royale, buddy, and don’t you forget it.
Pre-pandemic, they turned into a fine-dining establishment for Valentine’s Day. Although I had never heard of that or participated, I did hear, in advance, that due to the then-status of Omicron, it would be a special pink hearted take out Love Cube box this year.
I snuck out & grabbed one & surprised her. Brownie points, inexpensive, & little effort (much less than cooking) involved. Thanks, White Castle!!!
That you for contributing your toot cents worth.
There was a news article some years back about an “edgy” art gallery that served White Castle hamburgers as canapes at their opening.
And several advertisements and news stories about bridal parties that stopped at White Castle for a quick snack. The stretch limousine pulling into the drive-through.
I was surprised to read about the enormous shakes, because I remember White Castle undercutting other hamburger chains by serving small portions. Like their small hamburgers they had small coffees and small fries (the latter served in a hamburger box).
They serve that at Los Pescados Hermanos.
Unfortunately nothing in Vegas is truly representative of the original. The whole city is a scam. And I love Vegas (I go there almost once a year) but there are not many things that are truer than my first 2 sentences.
My wife & I (and now our kids) have kept the White Castle Valentine’s Day tradition going for something like 10 or 11 years now. It’s cute. It went from us saying: “what kind of cheapskate takes their SO to White Caste for Valentine’s Day” to “Actually, that kinda sounds like fun!”
In 2021, they had car hop service for Valentine’s Day amidst the pandemic. This year, as you said, it was just take out in a nice box. The “fine dining” experience really needs to be in quotes, though. Maybe it varies by location, but here it’s typically a plastic table cloth, a fake rose in a vase, candles, and the place being decked out in pink, red, and white. There’s been a backdrop for selfies over the last few years, too. Oh, and table service. It’s good fun.
