Is Wheat bread really that much better for you than white bread?
It depends.
Much “wheat” bread is really white bread with just a little whole wheat added, and maybe some coloring. It’s really no better than plain old white.
Now, 100% whole wheat bread, which contains the natural bran and naturally vitamin rich parts of the wheat, IS better than 100% white bread.
If, in addition to 100% whole wheat flour, other ingredients such as bran or various items such as raisins or seasame seeds or what not are added, the nutritional value can go up even further.
