White Powder scare...

We had our first scare today… it was pretty low key. No information other than rumor and the police and FBI outside. I called the security office & they couldn’t (read-wouldn’t) give me any information.

I don’t have any of the details other than no one was evacuated and the company hasn’t acknowledged it in any way… Business as usual!

My job had one too…turned out to be a crushed mint…the only reason I know about it is that the mailroom is part of my department.

Yup, same here. They evacuated the mail room, called in the police and fire depts, and are having the letter from a long-standing client reviewed in some laboratory. Time to go claim my spot underneath the opera building…

We’ve had two. One was an envelope sent to our payroll office. They threw out the envelope, but remembered it when they heard about the scare. They are currently being tested. Last night, we had one in our building. Turned out to be coffee creamer spilled in a conference room.

Just so you guys know, Anthrax powder is Off white or light baige in color, so if it’s just pure white (like a mint or no-dairy coffee creamer usually are) it’s not Anthrax. I heard that on the news,so it is probably pretty accurate information. Still, it’s better to be safe then sorry.

Supposedly a suspicious something arrived in the mail at my work also, not sure what division tho. Sheesh…

Here’s some decent information on what to do should you receive a suspicious package and how to identify suspicious packages.
