White teen fatally stabbed by black teen at track meet; racists come out of the woodwork

I’m not sure what the motive was, if any, but this boy literally died in his identical twin brother’s arms. I don’t even think these boys knew each other beforehand.

And any place that allows racist commentary is having a field day with it.

It’s nothing new. I’ve told the story here before, and I will again, but 50 years ago, shortly after I started 7th grade, I dropped a pop fly in a gym class softball game. One of my teammates said she was going to get her friends together after school, and kill me.

I thought she was kidding.

She wasn’t.

The threats continued for 3 more years, and I was always told, “You shouldn’t have dropped that ball.” I’ve never found out if her parents even knew what she was doing, and if so, what they thought about it. Last I heard, she worked as a guard in a women’s prison, so interpret that however you want.

And if any of my classmates share the story about the boys on social media, I will add my own story AND identify the girl by name; I don’t care who sees it or what will happen afterwards.

I believe you. One time in high school (9th grade for me) there was a girl I beat at ping pong. Just part of PE class. I think there was some taunting from both sides but nothing major, just kids being competitive.

Later I was warned (by a casual friend who I guess heard what was going to happen) not to linger after getting off the bus because she was going to have a bunch of people jump me, and sure enough after I got off the bus there were some people who wanted to stop me to “talk about something”. I said sorry but I needed to get home for something and hurried home. Over stupid ping pong.

(This was when I lived on Guam, and lived on a military base, and we were all Navy brats and all got dropped off at the same spot to walk home at base housing.)

I don’t know how far they had planned to go with jumping me, but the indication I got was that they were going to beat my ass. I am pretty sure there were 3 of them and they were all a lot bigger than me (not that it takes much to be bigger than me, I’ve always been a bit short and I’m just barely over 5’7" in adulthood). I never heard about it again and it’s not like I had to watch my back from that point on, but kids can sometimes take petty shit to an extreme, including violence, over pretty much nothing.

ETA: The article says Austin died in the arms of his twin brother Hunter. You said you assume that Austin never previously met his attacker, but was it possible Hunter had, and it was mistaken identity? I’m only half-joking here.

Oops, I accidentally copy and pasted that story twice! Guess I wanted to get the point across, didn’t I?

I hadn’t even thought of the possibility of mistaken identity. There’s one situation where it might almost be understandable, and that’s if Hunter/Austin had made threats against the (alleged - remember, he hasn’t been convicted yet) stabber, or if one of them had, for instance, raped the stabber’s sister.

Omg. I went and glanced at X and…an idiot MW posts that black boys are naturally violent.
I reported that post.

You do know that there are easier ways to no longer be able to post there?

What’s an MW?

Stupid racist who didnt deserve to have his name mentioned. Those are his initials.

@nearwildheaven, what does your experience have to do with a black on white stabbing?

The point had nothing to do with racial violence, but rather how a petty grievance between teenagers can lead to violence, even deadly violence. So this could be something along those lines, and probably had nothing to do with race despite what racists might insist.

It seemed pretty obvious to me.

Okay, I’m confused by what you’re saying here.

Obviously she didn’t kill you. So what did she actually do?

Did she make a serious attempt at killing you, like shooting or stabbing you? Did she physically hit you? Did she make verbal threats about killing you?

Hey, don’t go around making assumptions.

That first day after school, she had people stationed at every exit to the school except for one, and that’s how I got away. They also followed me for the next hour and a half, and I even stopped at a Blue Star Home (houses with a blue star in the window, indicating that they could help a child in need) but I told them I would be in bigger trouble if the police were called (Probably true). The threats did not stop until I went to high school, and at that point, I guess she forgot about it.

A new update: Two GoFundMes have been started for Austin’s family, and several people have been trying to start them for Karmelo (!). Because GFM does not allow fundraising for criminal cases, those were taken down, but there’s an active account on GiveSendGo, which I reported.

That’s baked into Twitter’s algorithms under Musk.

10,000 to 1 you get a response that says “Sorry, but this doesn’t violate X’s rules”. These days, an overt, specific threat of violence is needed in order for a poster to be eligible for sanctions.

By the way, the altercation that led to the stabbing was reportedly over the suspect sitting in a space in the stands that was occupied by supporters of one high school. Since he was from another school, he was told to move, didn’t, and the victim tried to forcibly move him and then was stabbed. Really dumb territorial shit, it appears.

The GSG that I reported is up to 87K, and FOUR others have been started for him, which all have no responses as of now.

My GSG report garnered a generic response that said, in effect, “We’ll look into it, and we do not discuss reports outside the office.” Okay…

Are you saying people donated 87k to the killer? Why?

Legal representation, I guess.

It goes without saying that there’s no excuse for fatally (or even non-fatally) stabbing somebody just because they physically assaulted you to try to get you to vacate your seat.

But it also should go without saying that attendees at a sporting event should not be physically assaulting other attendees just because they’re sitting in the “wrong” part of the stands according to arbitrary turf-war boundaries between rival factions. If somebody is sitting somewhere they’re officially not allowed to be, you report them to security.

There are now TWELVE Givesendgo accounts in Karmelo’s name, although most of them have no donations because it’s really obvious that they’re fraudulent.
