White teen fatally stabbed by black teen at track meet; racists come out of the woodwork

Karmelo Anthony is accused of fatally stabbing Austin Metcalf in front of multiple witnesses.

Here’s a story about a rally that happened yesterday (Saturday, the 19th). The activists (oops, I mean troublemakers) came out of the woodwork for this one.

Thank you. I had gotten the “Anthony” & the “Austin” backwards. D’oh.

Wait, first-degree murder? How on earth do they get that!?

Oh, right, never mind, Texas. He clearly premeditated by planning on being black.

Maybe because he threatened with a knife before using.

Seems like a massive stretch to me but as you said, Texas.

I don’t know how they get that either, because in Texas

Criminal homicide is murder, capital murder, manslaughter, or criminally negligent homicide

There ain’t no “degree.” Not first, not second, not even then proceeding to third. Fifth is right out. Just “murder” and “capital murder.”

Yes, I found the same thing searching, right on the Texas state web site same as you.

Reporters claiming he was charged with “first degree murder” seem to have made that up for sensationalism because it’s a more dramatic headline. (That or they’re just parroting another news outlet who made it up without doing their own fact-checking.)

Here’s a more local news report from Texas:

It doesn’t say that he has actually been charged with anything yet. Just released on a $250K bond after a public hearing in court. Other, reputable news sites seem to be saying much the same. I’m not a legal expert but I assume he hasn’t formally been charged yet with a specific crime. This article seems to support that assumption.

Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo his office hasn’t received the case yet but vowed to “follow the truth” wherever it leads.

So if it hasn’t even gotten to the prosecutors yet, it makes sense that no formal charges are made yet.

Again, the sources saying he was charged with first degree murder are irresponsibly spreading rumors.

God damn, that’s some shit tier journalism. It sucks that the “free market”/“marketplace of ideas” is totally unable to make that determination; our society’s incentives for journalists are all wrong.

Interesting article, Jake Lang, organizer of the protest, Senate hopeful, and pardoned Jan 6 participant, got on a call with Austin Metcalf’s dad.

I’m heartened by the fact that a victim of violence has the stones to tell off a guy who is trying to use his son’s death for divisive purposes. I’m not at all surprised that Lang interrupted and insulted a man who just lost a child to violence.

I just saw that some members of the black supremacist press have started a rumor that Jeff Metcalf has a record of committing sex offenses. If there was any truth to it, wouldn’t we already know about this?

A few things…

I have no idea what the “black supremacist press” is supposed to be, or why that had to be blurred out, like saying it clearly would summon them like Candyman. Examples of what you’re talking about would be helpful.

Secondly, “we” wouldn’t have any reason to know about it, though I think what you actually meant to ask is whether such information would be publicly available. Now, you said he “has a record of committing sex offenses”, but do you mean that they are stating that he is a registered sex offender? Because that information would certainly be publicly available somewhere, depending on what jurisdiction convicted him.

But really, there’s a lot to untangle from what you’re trying to say here. I’m also not sure what the relevance would be to this story. Is the idea supposed to be that if he is a sex offender, his son deserved to be killed?

Dude, you are clearly a racist dingbat. When pictures of the dead kid posing with automatic weapons turn up, your immediate response is that it must be Photoshopped. And now you’re repeating rumors about some “black supremacist press”, without even bothering to provide a cite? Seriously, man, just STFU.

And I agree, many kudos to Metcalf’s father for taking time off from his grieving to tell off racist scumbags trying to make his son’s death into a propaganda point.

Not accusing PT of being racist here, but that is clearly racist journalism, which is exactly what we’d expect from the Daily Mail. “Folks” “question” how his family is affording their legal fees, while living in a nice home with multiple cars. Obviously because they’re wealthy, dumbfucks. I guess “having money while Black” is also a crime in Texas now.

Now? It always has been.

OK, I “did my own research”, and could only find one mention of this rumor on the web, on a Facebook page which appears to be a personal page rather than any sort of journalistic endeavor. The commenters quickly figured out that she had him confused with another guy with a different middle name. This rumor doesn’t exactly appear to be sweeping the nation, but never too early to stamp this sort of crap out.

The more I think about, the more I suspect this is misinformation from some source or other. The Facebook page otherwise talked about her history of domestic abuse, Jesus, and cute pics of her kid. Seems odd that she’s suddenly become an investigative reporter.

? Dude, to paraphrase Thing.Fish, are you deliberately trying to paint yourself as a racist dingbat in this thread? Because you’re doing a pretty good job of it.

First you unironically describe a perfectly moderate and not unreasonable article on systemic racism in sensationalist crime journalism as equivalent to freaking Storm front, for heaven’s sake. Along with opining, with zero evidentiary support, that the black teen in this case was probably an embryo mass murderer and about to violate his bail conditions.

And now this bullshit. What on earth is it about a black teenager accused of a violent crime getting due process, and his family getting legal protections and community support, that triggers you so bad?

It’s not even as though Anthony is being widely described as innocent or justified in his actions. Even those of us demanding that the law and society should treat him and his family fairly are pretty much taking it for granted, based on the details now known, that fair treatment for Anthony is going to involve a jail sentence for some variant of unlawful killing. So whence all this anti-black malevolent paranoia on your part?

100%, knowingly or not.

In my experience, every racist full well knows they are racist.
