Who are the biggest islamophobes?

Often hear about islamophobia in the news, but only in the context of being in the west. Some guy with a NASCAR shirt looks at a muslim woman funny, so ever non muslim in the west needs to become more understanding and tolerant.

However, for over 1400, muslims have been hating and killing each other for sectarian reasons. Sunnis and shiites each thing that their brand of Islam is the proper successor of the Prophet’s. They can however unify and put aside their hatred to to hate smaller sects even more, like Sufis and Ahmadis.

So I ask you, who are the biggest islaomophobes? Some western guy who thinks negative thoughts about muslims, perhaps even puts bacon on a public park, or the daily hatred between different sects of islam for well over 1000 years?

And why does one type get a lot more attention than the other?

The NASCAR guy.

A Sunni might be called a Shia-phobe, for example, but he doesn’t abhor all brands of Islam, as does your hypothetical NASCAR guy.

You asked “who is the biggest islamophobe”- not “who is the worst”. Even the worst Muslim terrorists aren’t islamophobes- because they don’t fear Islam. Obviously terrorists are worse people than NASCAR fans.

Could you please provide a cite to a real world situation that illustrates what you might be talking about, instead of yet another strawman cardboard cutout?

As for your final flourish:

Well, that’s just factually incorrect. We’re treated to news about inter-muslim killings in Afghanistan and Iraq on a daily basis. How often does the NASCAR guy make the news?

The fact that some people are bad does not mean that other people are excused from their own misdeeds. The drug dealer doesn’t get a pass because Ted Bundy killed lots of people. Racist Americans don’t get a pass because there is violence overseas.

Funny, I always thought it was the Rush Limbaugh types that would accuse liberals of people moral relativists, like that’s that is such a curse. I never really thought about Islamophobes trying to claim that mantle.

The biggest Islamophobes are the Jews who’ve been manipulating Christians and Muslims into slaughtering each other for centuries while the Jews wait in the shadows rubbing their hands and cackling with glee at the atrocities their minions in the form of the British monarchy, the CIA, the UN, the World Bank, the Masons, and, course, the Shriners, engage.

You left out the Lizard People. (Well, you kinda included them by mentioning the British monarchy, but the Lizard People are much, much bigger than that.)

When was the last time you heard about a bus crash in Indonesia on the news? Newsflash (no pun intended): Western news broadcasts primarily cover things that happen in the West.

Al Qaeda is a sunni group that is anti-shi-ite. I think Al Qaeda in Iraq devoted more time to attacking Shiites than attacking US personnel by the time the war was winding down.

In the book growing up Bin Laden, Bin Laden seemed to have a 5 step plan to take over the world (that is what I remember of it)

  1. Conquer Afghanistan
  2. Conquer muslims he didn’t agree with
  3. Conquer Israel
  4. Conquer the west
  5. Conquer the world

He devoted a good chunk to fighting other muslims, and being rejected by other muslims (as an Arab in Afghanistan, he faced a lot of disdain which he only overcame because Mullah Omar protected him. But that is more ethnic fighting than religious).

But Bin Laden wasn’t an islamophobe anymore than martin Luther was anti-christian.

If you had titled the OP ‘who are the most rabidly bigoted against muslims’ then I would agree some muslims are going to more bigoted towards each other than anti-muslim types in the west. Killing people because of religion is worse than not wanting a mosque built because of religion.

There was a recent story in which someone left one or more messages on the website of a mosque saying that the poster was going to disrupt a Muslim prayer. Shortly after that, as a number of Muslims from that mosque met at a local park to pray at the end of Ramadan, they discovered that the area in whch they would be praying was scattered with bits of bacon.

In another thread, stevenova complains that the police are looking at this as a possible hate crime, arguing that scattering pork in a park is not even littering, much less a hate crime.

(Somehow, the notion of harrassment has not quite penetrated his consciousness.)
