Who are the most famous and/or notable alumni from your high school?

I went to Kemper Military School in Boonville, Missouri.

Off the top of my head, Kemper’s most famous graduate was George Lindsay, who played “Goober” Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show and its sequel, Mayberry R.F.D. He was the commencement speaker the year I graduated. When I walked across the stage to receive my diploma, he asked me where I was from; I told him I was from Texas, and he said, “whoo-EE! They sure grow 'em big down thar!”

American humorist Will Rogers also attended Kemper, but he didn’t graduate - he left in the 10th grade, I think he was asked to leave but was happy to do so.

Michelle Malkin - political commentator and author
Chris Ford - NBA player, head coach for the Celtics, Bucks, Clippers, 76ers
John P. O’Neill - FBI Terrorist Specialist, Director of Security World Trade Center, died in the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks
Brian Joo - of Fly to the Sky, U.S-born South Korean pop singer/entertainer

Not thrilled about having Malkin as a fellow alumnus.
I remember Joo from an elementary school talent show, but I’m not sure how famous he is in Korea.

St. Xavier H.S., Cincinnati

Charles Keating is probably the most infamous for the S&L scandal

Olympic swimmer Joe Hudepohl

Actor John Diehl

Choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler

Senator and Baseball HOF alumni Jim Bunning

A few other minor authors, some journeyman type football players, and local politicians.

Howard Stern and State Senator Dean Skelos

By far the most famous would be Halle Berry. She graduated a few years after I did.

There are also two football players - Chris Chambers and Lee Evans.

A former NASA astronaut, Mary Ellen Webber, graduated the same year I did. She was one of the valedictorians (we had 5 - large school).

The one I like best, though, is Toby Radloff. He’s the proudly nerdy guy who was Harvey Pekar’s colleague at the Veteran’s Administration hospital and appears in American Splendor.

My high school opened in 1991. Nobody even remotely famous has attended that I know of.

Carl Lewis, olympic athlete. He graduated from Willingboro HS in 1979, I graduated in 1981. I didn’t know him, but his mother was one of my gym teachers.

Frazz creator Jef Mallett

Good lord, I had NO idea you were that much younger than I am.

Excuse me while I yank my pants up to my armpits and start yelling at those damn kids on my yard.

If it’s any consolation, I was a freshman in 1991. I’m 30 now. I’m not THAT much younger than you. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve never checked my highschool Wikipedia page before. I only recognize a few names in this list including a classmate and apparently my Brother-in-law. If you’re not from Southern Ontario you may not recognize any.

Anyone who’s watched the NHL in the last 20 years will recognize Scott Stevens.

True, there are a couple NFL and NHL names on there. I don’t follow sports close enough to know many players names and only recognized a former classmate (Frank Jagas).
edit: I took another look. I really don’t know sports players do I. He’s a Hall of Famer and there’s a pic there of him with Bush.

Dearborn High School, Dearborn, Michigan
George Peppard from The A Team TV show.
Also, not a student, but Russ Gibb was an English teacher there while I was a student. He was the DJ who was part of the whole Beatles “Paul is dead” rumour.

Gloria Steinem. And holy crap, I didn’t realize she was born in 1934. She’s a generation older than I thought she was. Real observant of me. :smack:

At least you got more than I. But then I grew up in Whitby.

The high school where I spent most of my time was St. Jerome’s in Kitchener, ON. Notable graduates are Paul Reinhart, who was a pretty decent defenceman in the NHL for a number of years (500+ career points) and author David Morrell, who wrote “First Blood,” upon which the Rambo movie franchise was based.

The school I attended for my last year, Bishop Grandin in Calgary, AB, has no notable graduates I’m aware of, unless you count a guy who was a year behind me who had a recurring bit part in Lonesome Dove, The TV Series (I think as the town barber). Personally, I don’t.

Actor Thomas Janewas in the class ahead of me at Wootton High School. But I didn’t know him. And he was Thomas Elliot at the time.

From my class, the girl who was raped by the Kennedy nephew, and the ground systems manager at Cape Canaveral.

and me of course.

Little high school in a little, fairly rural town. Nobody you’ve ever heard of. Oh, well.

The closest we come is Tom Dreesen’s brother.
