I don’t know that I’d call Bo Gritz a conservative, per se; he’s certainly really fucking scary, though. He is to the modern militia movement what Barry Goldwater is to modern conservatives, only he isn’t dead.

Which is very little, actually. Goldwater was pro-choice*, pro-gay rights, very much against the Religious Right, etc. He wouldn’t be quite as popular today.

*His wife, Peggy, was a founder of Planned Parenthood in Arizona. When their daughter became pregnant in the 1950s, they helped her obtain an abortion. Today, PP in Arizona has an award named after Mrs. Goldwater.

You know, if you’re looking for a forum where the mods enforce a political agenda, I suggest you look to some of the right-wing forums. One I watch regularly is a good example- it’s run like a police state. One popular thread on there right now is: “Are Liberals stupid, or mentally deficient? Why can’t we just have them committed?”. Dissenters are routinely reported to the mods, and have their threads deleted- hell, there’s a whole subforum devoted just to tattling on the posters who don’t play along.

Compared to that place, The 'Dope is incredibly apolitical.
