I’ve always wondered, and maybe someone here will have insight, who chooses the music for shows like CSI, bones or other shows on tv? There have been a few times where I’ve watched them… heard a song (one episode of CSI in particular I heard a new prodigy song I hadn’t heard before) and wondered who it was that actually picked the songs that go on the shows. Anyone know?
I’m not sure, but I imagine the producers of the show pick the songs. Using copyrighted music in shows can be an expensive ordeal- there are many cases in which DVD releases of TV shows, both old and new, have had music replaced because of the inability to obtain rights to the songs originally used. In fact, CBS just founded its own record label specifically to have its own library of music it can use on its shows without paying royalties to other labels.
