Who did these 1960s artworks?

Bumping this on the off-chance that some new dopers will know …
It’s still bugging me.

I have kept searching but so far I haven’t had any luck.

I think this isn’t rock poster art. It looks like advertising graphic design, mid to late 60s. You should search for graphic designers from that period. It could be block printing, or at least drawn to resemble woodcuts but with a modern flair.

An excellent suggestion. I have checked into a quite a few graphic designers (Wes Wilson, Victor Moscoso, Alton Kelley, Alan Aldridge, Weymouth & English, etc.) but so far no luck.

Also, not necessarily San Francisco. Could be 70s. The artist had seen psychedelic art, but I’ll bet he or she never took drugs.

Maybe some early Kliban? I get the Sendak vibe as well.

Could also be a postage stamp design.

Oh, look - this one is signed. I think it says “Bglt Svarkvr”.

I don’t know from Gil Brown, but the answer appears to be Gil Brown.

A person with an excellent name has solved it! Great job, Borborygmi! Thank you!

I’m now off to explore Mr. Brown’s work; a copy of that poster will soon be on its way to my house. I see they also have the flying pig and a sun poster as well.

Thanks again for the keen detective work!

Hope you have more luck than i did … i can’t find anything !

Nope. Just those 3 images is all I find. I did find some bio information on a very unusual website: Gil Brown, horoscope for birth date 5 January 1941, born in Seminole, with Astrodatabank biography - Astro-Databank At least, that looks like it could be the same person.

There’s also a MOMA page that looks like it might be him but there’s nothing there: no images, no real text other than the label: nothing. https://www.moma.org/artists/49236#works
