David Letterman
I was at a Boxing match in the mid-80’s and Ali and Foreman were both there as special guests.
I got the program (which had a picture of their press photo from the Rumble in The Jungle on it) signed by both boxers.
The last book signing I went to was Martin Amis.
I’ve got an autographed postcard from Margaret Cho, from the Notorious C.H.O. tour. It’s hanging, framed, in my bathroom for inspiration.
I have an autographed photo of Paul Tibbets, pilot of the Enola Gay.
I’d wager that I’m the only one on the board who collects autographs of rodeo cowboys. I’ve got a lot; Tuff Hedeman, Cash Myers, Fred Whitfield. I’ve given the photos to my SO’s son, who has them on his walls. I don’t ahve any of the older cowboys, since I just started this last year. I’m very proud to have a T-shirt that at least 50 rodeo stars have signed. I have every intention of framing that one day. No, I wasn’t wearing it at the time!
Well, some are pictures and some aren’t:
Music (got these in person): the Moody Blues, Eric Johnson, Al Di Meola, Leonard Slatkin (conductor of National Symphony), Yo Yo Ma, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Nickel Creek, Willie Nelson, Glen Phillips (Toad TWS), Jennifer Warnes, Dick Dale, Chuck Berry, Ray Benson (Asleep at the Wheel), Doyle Bramhall II, Kinky Friedman, and a whole bunch of others I’ve seen in Austin, Tx. that you might not have even heard of.
The MST3K gang (got in person): Mike, Trace, Kevin, Mary Jo, Bridget, Paul, and the last guy (brain guy, new Croooow) whose name escapes me at the moment.
Jonathan Frid (Barnabas Collins, got in person), Orlando Bloom (not in person, unfortunately).
My husband got Maria Shriver, Jay Leno, Hank Aaron, Ozzie Smith, and Stan Musial (plus some more) all on the same baseball.
Others (got in person mostly in their books): Chuck Yeager, Alan Shepard (also signed my old Alan Shepard LIFE magazine), Jim Lovell, Colin Powell, Hilary Clinton, Al Franken.
Wow, it’s almost as if I collect autographs. I don’t….Really. OK, maybe I do…a little bit.
I have autographed pictures of the actors who play Darth Vader, Darth Maul, the albino twins from the Matrix movies, (went to a sci fi convention for those) the wrestlers who perform as The British Bulldogs (saw them in an airport), and the long gone 90’s brit group Bros.
[QUOTE=RobuSensei]
Entirely too many books by Neil Gaiman
(including a copy of Sandman #1, signed and doodled upon)
QUOTE]
So, where do you live exactly? I’m just curious, you see. No really!
Pictures?
There’s one of Marilyn Chambers, and another of Hyapatia Lee. As an added bonus, the one of Hyapatia is of her sitting on my lap, nekkid. (Hyapatia is nekkid, not me - nobody wants a picture of that.)
Yeah, that was in my “blue” period…
And a signed poster promoting a speaking engagement by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
Non-pictures, not a lot of stuff. A couple of T.C. Boyle books, and a signed lithograph of a Berkeley Brethed strip.
I have autographed pictures of Axl Rose and Slash.
“Dear [Gaspode] - Love’s lust, [signed] Seka”
Also in person, though not a photo per se: A copy of “The Blood of Abraham” signed to me by ex-pres Jimmy Carter.
I have an autographed picture of Alex Trebek, an autographed book by Kurt Vonnegut, and a picture of me and Brooke Shields. Brooke will always cherish that moment.
Stephen King.
He was signing books in a town near where I live. My sister took the pic, then we had the film developed at a one-hour place (this was before digital), raced back to the bookstore and he signed it for me. I have this huge, cheesey grin on my face.
Connor Trinneer and Dominic Keating from Star Trek Enterprise. Via eBay.
I have an autographed Penn and Teller program with their picture, complete with their “bloody” hand prints, an 8x10 of scream queen Monique Gabrielle, and an 8x10 of F1 and Indy Car champ Nigel Mansell. I also have a trading card of Mansell with his signature on it.
Mass market-wise, I have “autographed” pictures of Steve Martin and Albert Brooks, which came inside record albums. And a similar one of Elvira that I think I ordered through the mail.
Under miscelaneous items, I have a hat autographed by open wheel racer Arie Luyendyk, a sketch of a duck, singed by Mad Magazine’s Dick Edwin, and a book of paintings signed by the bizarre artist, Robert Williams.
It’s bugging the back of my mind that I have a couple more autographs, aside from various comics and books, but they don’t come to mind right now.
Oh yeah, I also have an autographed photo of Butch, from the Little Rascals. He had a table set up at the San Diego swap meet a couple of years ago.
“Dean and Robin,” from the show, Hometime (I think that’s the name of the show), will be in town this weekend doing a home show. I was contemplating going to get their autographs on Saturday, though I’m not a big fan of the show. (I’d rather meet Amy Winn from Trading Spaces.)
Chuck Yeager (first man to break the sound barrier) and Tom Baker (the 4th Doctor Who)
Sorry for the third post in a row, but I just remembered another one worth mentioning, of the World Famous Pontani Sisters. Unfortunately, I ordered it from their website and have not met them in person yet.
Kevin Harvick, NASCAR driver, twice. Comes with the fan club.
Jeff Green, NASCAR driver, before he sucked, while he was winning in Busch Series.
Jimmy Piersall, ballplayer, nutcase.
Under the “what might have been” section, I have an envelope containing a picture of my son, at 6 months old, in his Dale Earnhardt car seat, looking mean. A friend of my wife’s uncle was good friends with the Earnhardts, and he suggested sending it to him to have it signed. Unfortunately, this was right around the 2001 Daytona 500, and I never got it in the mail in time.
I also have an autographed book by former Pennsylvania Governor Bob Casey (no relation).
