Who Do You Trust Least?

With all the threads on these boards about the war, I think it’s time to ask who you trust least? That is, what person/group/organization most makes you dismiss their claims as soon as you hear them? Please note, this in in IMHO and not a “what do you hate?” question. I want to know who’s statements you distrust on “first hear” and why.

My current list:

  1. The medical industry - This is a huge category covering everything from pretentious doctors to insane HMO policies. All too often I find myself wondering if the industry is really that insane, or if there are ultieror motives at work.

  2. Gas stations - Why does the price per gallon jump up 10 cents overnight, but take six weeks to drop those same 10 cents? If the price of gas flucuates that fast on the up swing, shouldn’t it also drop that fast on the down?

  3. The “Government” - Yours, Mine, Theirs… Does anyone actually have blind faith in any government any more, or do we all immediately assume the worst? The Government always seems to move up my list during tax time.

Also rans:

Airline Industry - This one has dropped on my list recently, but I still wonder about why prices are the way they are and why it’s so impossible to fly on time. Or why the customers flying on the plane are always the last to know what’s going on. I mean, you can usually get more info from the internet at home than you can sitting at the terminal waiting for the flight.

Car Mechanics - Again, this one comes and goes. Do I really need to replace all those parts, or are you yanking my chain for extra labor cost? Most of the places I go to now give me any old parts so I at least have nice looking paperweights and feel better about needing new brake rotors.

University Accounting - I’ve been out of college a few years, so the pain has faded, but I used to hate having to figure out which of the seventy minor charges were actually valid. If the price of tuition wasn’t enough, the activity fee, registration fee, processing fee, housing fee and thanks for playing fees killed you with a thousand cuts. I never did believe that all of that could exist without some sort of conspiracy.

Mods: I wasn’t sure if this is really IMHO or BBQ Pit. Please move if necessary.

Interesting question. I’m pretty cynical, and tend to not trust anybody. I know that a little bit of an overreaction, but I’d rather not trust in the first place than have my trust betrayed.

But here are some people/groups I ESPECIALLY don’t trust -

Politicians. Does ANYBODY trust those in political office? I sure don’t. Doesn’t matter if they’re state, federal, or international. Anytime I hear a politician speak, I’m pretty sure he or she is being sneaky and dishonest.

Car Dealers and Auto Mechanics. I lump them together because they have the car thing in common. I’ve seen more 60 Minutes exposes on these groups than I have on anything else, which has fueled my distrust of them.

People I trust the least:

  1. People who are telling me what their doctor told them.

  2. People who believe that, because of something horrible that happened to them, personally, they have insight or information the rest of the world cannot comprehend.

  3. Anyone who has an MBA unless it’s one of my close friends are a respected former colleagues.

  4. Larry David.

  5. People who are afraid of dogs.

  6. Fast food restaurant staffers (they put mayo on my burger, curse them!)

  7. A couple of my uncles (even when they are sober.)

  8. Myself with certain men.

Joe Isuzu.

Can that guy EVER tell the truth?

  • Those talking babies on TV adverts. Creepy. Yeck.
  • Cats [Ducks to avoid 40 gallizion bricks throw at him from catlovers].
  • People who smile too much.
  • Anyone who keeps on trying to convert others to their religion.(‘Look, just go away. Now. I mean it. I’m not listening. LAALALAAA’)
  • People who claim to be race/sex tolerent. (So why do they have to display themselves as such?)
  • That guy in highschool 10 years ago who hasn’t paid the dollar he owes me. Bastard!

Pretty much exactly what Kn*ckers said, but not so much regarding car mechanics. We don’t really have a problem with them in India.

Politicians though, whoo boy, don’t even get me started!

I don’t trust people who say “trust me”.
