Got your attention Eh ? Well it is nice for America to help out in Kosovo but the military seem very arrogant and forceful. “DO what we want you to do or else” Do any Amerians think maybe someone somewhere is not being completely TRUTHfull ?
Please read about all sides of a subject before you pass judegment. I think this guy in Kosovo is terrible what he is doing but find out all the facts first before we pass judgement on these people.
I also think killing innocent children and elderly is wrong by UN and the USA and yes even Canada is over there, one thing we all agee on is that this crisis must stop.
I’ve been down this road before. All I can tell you is that I get my news from several sources, some American, some not, some truthful, some lies.
The American military hasn’t, IMO, been accussed, by any reliable sources, of mass executions, expulsions, house burnings, and other elements of ethnic cleansing. The same can’t be said for the Yugoslav military and police.
This didn’t start in Kosovo. Those under Milosovic’s comand have carried out these atrocities in Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia. We are as much at war with the Serbian people as we are with their leaders and military. It is they who have allowed these atrocities to be carried out in their name. They should be thankful that the NATO air forces have shown as much restraint in striking civilian targets as they have.
I wonder if some people will still hold their anti-American sentiments when our GIs start digging up mass graves in the coming weeks.
Papa bear, as a Canadian I have to tell you - you hit it right on. I have done UN tours two of them…enough of my friends have (6) done service in the former Yugoslavia, that I have a pretty clear pic who is more closer to the truth.
Military to me does not to me seem that arrogant and forceful…Unlike Canadian Airborne in Somalia…
Cogito Ergo Vroom
I think therefore I ride fast…
Why is this an attack on Americans? The last I saw, the head of NATO was a Spaniard, and there are 18 other countries involved in this war. Including Canadians.
Yeah! Don’t make us come over there…
Last I spoke with them, America thought they were a continent. They said that they consisted of three distinct geographic divisions: South America (lots of countries, some big, some medium, some small), Central America (fewer countries, mostly small to medium size), and North America (fewest countries of all, but they’re HUGE). I guess these geographic divisions are why we are speaking of America as “they”, but I don’t think that’s tecnically correct. Hope this helps, we live to serve.

You are a bit off base, Doc. If you look at the title, it appears that the OP was referring to “AMERICA”, not “America”. I have yet to decipher what this acronym stands for, but perhaps it will shed some meaning on the debate.
Assorted Muscular European Rescues In Cases of Assault? Another Military Expedition Requiring InCreased Armaments?
Shouldn’t this be in the “Fights I Must Pick” or “Endless Debates” or “Extremely Pointless Posts”?

Perhaps the lousy canadian actually means the old 60’s and 70’s band America. If that the case then he needs to recheck his facts. My father actually played Guitar for them for awhile but decided to quit when I was born. Now if he is referring to The United States of America…I know he doesn’t want none of THIS!!! Canada is so nowheresville. We could easily take canada in a day if we chose to. Maybe I’m wrong but I’m thinking he’s a french canadian. Hmmmmmm…I think thats the only people I hate more than the French.

Spedster, I tried to call you Sunday about this particular subject, but I got so damn depressed.
Maybe I couldn’t reach you because you were out. I understand you’ve been running from a man who goes the name of the Sandman. Oh well, I won’t give up until I reach for that silver cup. See you on the Ventura Hi-way.

I know, I know. Lame. Very Lame. Just shoot me.
Dandmb50: Well ok, but how about all those children, men and women that the Serbians have executed? Or all those Kosovars who the serbians have forced from their homes, and also tortured? How about all the land mines that the serbs have left behind? Not to mention children who had to walk on foot into Montenegro and Albania, often without food? I agree with Papa Bear, the serbians should be happy that the military has restrained itself in its bombing (the bombings could have easily been random and at any target). Its funny, people decry all innocent serbians have been killed (who are in the military for the most part) but i hardly hear any protestors decrying the murder and expulsion of the Kosovo people. Also why is america the target? Have people forgotten that its NATO that decided to take this action and that they asked us to help?
Thor already posted topics like this.
Postings like this probably should be in the BBQ pit or Great Debates forum. You won’t get much response in the GQ forum.
My two cents worth:
HELLO!! Pick up your civics book and follow the bouncing ball. The military (US/NATO) does not act outside of our government’s interest. Trust me, spent 20 years in Uncle Sugar’s service and if we (the military) were really acting independently, Hussein would not be alive, several countries harboring known terrorists would be glow-in-the-dark parking lots, and a lot of our military equipment would be decorated with pictures of large-breasted naked women. So don’t blame the military guys and gals, last I saw, there was still the American flag flying over my base and not the Jolly Roger.
