We us ours reguarily for cooling ostrich steaks and burgers. Works great. I still prefer the charcoal grill when the weather is nice, but the GF grill is a lot easier to set up and clean.
I haven’t tried grilled salmon yet, but now that someone mentioned it I will.
The one warning is that is you clean it while it’s hot, be careful not to jostle it such that the top lid slams shut on your hand. That hurts a hell of a lot. I had grill marks on my hand for a week after that.
Last night was the first time I tried it, and I didn’t have a problem. I thawed them first, and I just kep rotating them and switching the grill position (lengthwise, diagonal, sideways) and they turned out pretty good.
Man I love my little grill!!! I could not believe how much fat was sitting in the tray after grilling a hamburger. Thin pork chops are great - it can’t handle the thicker ones too well.
I am hooked on it, but yeah, it does smush the grilled cheese sandwiches to nothing.
(And I have the designer purple one [thanks, Mom!].)
Meat,Toast,Veggies, This thing does it all. Does it quickly and evenly!
Ours recently had an “Accident” and the top broke. Funny though,as it still works!I never did a grill cheese but a steak from frozen to eatable in 4 minutes makes me happy as punch! Is also Great for smoked sausages either cut or whole.Just be sure you flip those around as the lines going different directions gives a much varried texture and flavor.
My friend John says one should retain the grease in the tray for your breakfast cereal but he always has been a bit cracked.
Yes I will gladly pay the slightly higher price to get the real deal instead of a generic.I’ve found the Forman name on these types of grills cannot be denied it’s superority.
But, how did it taste?
sorry sorry couldn’t resist. I have been considering buying one of these. Do any of you feel they make the food less fattening? Do they hamburgers come out juicy or dry?

Since the grill made it much easier to cook (and clean up after cooking) bacon, and made melting cheese on the top of the burger easy, I’d have to say “no, my food was not less fattening.”
I use it to cook chicken, 8 minutes covered in salt, pepper, and paprika. My mom was terrified that I’d get food poisoning if I tried to cook chicken on the stove, so she secretly slipped one into my apartment stuff this summer. Thanks Mom!
My roommates also mix ground turkey, garlic and pepper to make turkey burgers.
Yes, the GF grill is great! Juicy hamburgers, quick chicken breasts, grilled cheese (albeit a little flat, but I can deal with it), tunamelt sammiches and even London Broil! I marinated a steak in Soy Sauce and minced garlic, put on the George for only about 5 minutes or so, and it was stupendous!
I must have one of the bigger ones, because the steak fit and the lid closed. It was incredibly yummy and juicy and tender.
We’ve discovered that it cleans easier if you leave the lid up and let it cool slightly. It should still be warm, but not stone cold. You don’t get burned and the stuff hasn’t cooled off and stuck to the surface.
I’ve got the small one with the bun warmer on top, and would LOVE to have a bigger one too. While the bun warmer works great for the hamburgers, I’m not crazy about the hotdogs on the grill.
Ditto on the way you clean it. It’s much easier if it is just a tad still warm.
Best marinade?? Soy sauce, lime juice and Sazon Goya seasoning packet [found in the Mexican aisle]. I use that on practically every meat I cook on the grill. It’s great.
He didn’t have anything to do w/ inventing it - it’s the celebrity status thing. But he is making a TON of money - I forget where I read it, but somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 - $100 million for the use of his name etc.
I have the little GF grill, it seems to be the maximum amount of white plastic casing they could put around a tiny heating element. With all that grease and liquid pouring off the front, it tends to get a little grimy. It’s not immersible so it’s a little bit of trouble to clean. Maybe I’d be happier if it was chrome or something.
Mine has a bun warmer on top too. But from the other posts in this thread, it seems that mine is one of the larger ones. Like I said, I managed to fit a good sized London Broil on mine (diagonally, and the ends did flop over the heating elements a bit, but they cooked up. I did re-align it halfway through, just as a precaution). But we can fit three boneless chicken bresses on it, no problem. Mrs. Dave-Guy bought the thing, and she’s thinking of cooking for a family of four, so maybe there’s a model that fits one burger patty, or one grilled cheese? What different sizes are there?
I love it and am always surprised to hear people praise it.
My mother and father got the electric Foreman Grill for their deck. It’s great.
Simple, easy to clean.
I guess it is better than a frying pan because some grease/fat does run off using the grill, versus a pan where the meat stays saturated in grease/fat.
I like to slice some zucchini and mushrooms nice and thick, marinate in balsamic vinegar and grill…yummy.
I also use it for chicken breasts and hamburgers.
I don’t find it very hard to clean, that little plastic scraper-thingy works great.
My only complaint is that I have a small one.
Don’t know if you guys do this or not, or if the cookbook recommends this (too lazy to go look), but brine your chicken breasteses. Put about 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup salt in some water–I dunno how much, a quart or so, just so that there’s more sugar and salt than will dissolve. Leave it in the fridge for an hour or so, then cook according to instructions (about 5 minutes, I think). They’ll fall apart, and they won’t be sweet or salty.
Haven’t had much luck with steaks or burgers on my George, though–they usually turn out too dry for a rare-and-juicy kinda guy.
I grill zucchini and squash on it as well as burgers, chicken, chops, you name it!! The food tastes great and low fat and it’s so fast and easy… great for a single person. If you let it cool off, just lean it over the sink, put some detergent on it and get a sponge to clean it, and then rinse it. It is really quite easy to upkeep. I thought mt parents were nuts when they bought this for me and now I could not live without it!
