Who has seen Mulholland Dr.?

Just curious. I saw this last week and thought it was stunning. Everything about this flim was wonderful. DL toned down the vast Lynchisms found in Lost Highway (which I also thought was great, but seem to be in the minority) and left enough there to make you hungry for more. This is one of the few movies I have ever seen that, when I left the theatre, I really wanted more. I was wondering how others felt about this film.

Actually, I thought it was one of the best films David Lynch ever did. I saw it with thinksnow, and he had more of a “WTF?” response, but I really enjoyed it.

I took my whole family to see it, Mom, sisters, niece. I grinned like a big kid through the whole thing, and grinned even more at my families puzzled expressions. Superb film, strong vision and strong command of presentation (unlike some other Lynch work).

I hope the film is remembered at Oscar time.

I’ve seen it twice now. I think it’s the best Lynch movie so far in terms of a strong story and reasonably accessible and believable characters. You only have to accept one Lynch weirdness (which I will NOT spoil), and the movie actually pretty much makes sense.
Only the other hand, there weren’t as many patented Lynchisms as in other movies of his, Lost Highway being a prime example. Less weirdness for weirdness’ sake, which I like.

I know I am going to get flamed or even taken for a troll, but here is my take on such films:

If you cant make it cogent, SAY ITS NOT A COGENT MOVIE RIGHT AT THE START!!! Damn it!! I am an engineer I want things to make logical sense!!! I spent two hours watching the movie trying to piece the scenes together; spent another hour later; only to find out there is an entire genre where things are NOT SUPPOSED to make sense. Just like modern art. And when I found out the background of this movie, its obvious when abc decided to drop it and when France decided to fund it. Such a big change in the story.

PS. I loved some of the scenes though, if you know what I am talking about.

Actually, I think you have a good point. It is obvious where the ABC funding stopped. However, I didn’t find this detrimental to the film in any way. I can understand the disorientation…this is what draws me to Lynch films. I thought the lst 1/3 was stunning. Of course, I though the first 2/3s was stunning, too, so what the hell do I know. The whole thing worked…and it worked perfectly for me. However, don’t walk into this film thinking it is going to be “The Straight Story”.
I think it would have been really interesting to see how this developed on TV.
One cool thing is this is called billed as a love story.
SMALL SPOILER AHEAD*********

I’m glad to see that the love story didn’t have to be heterosexual in nature. No, I’m not being a dirty old man, but I thought that this love story was handled in a way that was not pornographic in nature. The actresses where incredible.

Well, I’ve driven it, so I guess I’ve seen it…

…oh, you mean the movie!

Nevermind…
