Who here has a juicer?

I just got one. Check out this thread.

Anybody have a favorite juice recipe? So far, my favorite is kiwi-carrot. (3 kiwis to 1 lb. of carrots is a good ratio.) I’m looking for other cool juice recipes. Please share.

XOXOXO

My Favorite

3 Carrots
1 Apple
1 Orange
1/2 Beet (I include the greens as well)
Handful of parsley

Like a lot of natural juices it looks like hell, tastes like heaven.

Nutrients:
Vitaman A from the Carrots
Vitaman C from the Orange
Iron form the Beet Greens
Beta-Carotene from the Carrots

Parsley Juice acts as a Laxative, so don’t over do it.

I got one.

A couple of nice things to make:

Carrot/orange. Peel away the oily orange part of the orange peel, but leave the white pith. The color of this mixture is indescribably beautiful. The pith makes it creamy and frothy.

Cantaloupe - wash it well, scoop out the seeds, and juice the flesh and the peel. This is beyond delicious and pretty good for you too.

Here goes,

2 bananas
1 quart of plain yogurt
1 cup fresh strawberries
1 cup fresh raspberries
1 container of frozen orange juice
2 cups water
blend

You wont be able to fit it all into the blender at once so youll have to make two batches. Use less water for a more thicker recipe.
Awsome !!
~Course you can add any fruits to taste.

I have a juicer, which has sat mostly idle since I live alone – when I had relatives living with me, it was a bonding experience to peel and slice fruit and veggies for post-dinner drinks. By myself, it’s just a chore.

When I bought my juicer, I consulted Consumer Reports, who rated a Panasonic model as the best. I bought it for $70 – curious, because several lower-rated models cost upwards of $300. (This was almost ten years ago, I have no idea which models are best now, nor what they cost).

I had lots of favorite vegetable juice recipes. My two favorite fruit juice recipes:

  1. Lemonade of the Gods Core and quarter about a dozen small eating apples (most any kind will do). Slice a lemon (skin and all). Juice them all. The result will look like apple cider, but if you close your eyes, you will think you’re drinking the best lemonade ever – the apples provide a hearty sweetening.

  2. Orange Juice on Steroids Peel and segment a dozen oranges. Juice them. This will make the most incredible orange juice you have ever experienced. According to Jay Kordich (whose book details these and many other juice recipes), squeezing gives you ‘orange water’, juicing gives you real orange juice.

Fresh carrot is truly outragious. Add a clove or two of garlic and it is even better.

Don’t know if your machine can make coconut milk (some, like my Champion, can), but if it can–then consider fresh pineapple and a little rum and. . .maybe you can make another one.

Spinach is great in the juicer too, combined with apples and oranges in proportions you like. The color is revolting but it tastes great, and then you have juice with calcium and iron, with the acidity that helps you absorb both.

I really like lime and cranberry combined with apples. Tangy as hell. (1/2c. cranberries, 1 peeled lime, 5 apples depending on size. I have a high threshhold for sourness–you might like it sweeter)

Plain old carrot and apple does it for me. I need to get the juice machine up and running again.

Try this one:

1 apple, 1 pear, 1 stalk of celery, 1 inch chunk of ginger

Sweet and yet not, with a nice ginger bite. You’ll thank me.

Sadly, my juicer is usually glaring at me with a guilt inducing look that says, “Why did you spend so much money on me when you never use me???” Eeek, I think I will juice today!

Anyway, I feel extremely healthy when I drink this combo:

4 carrots
2 or 3 celery stalks
A half of a beet. Greens included
1 asparagus

It’s really delicious too.

F.U. Shakespeare, I tried your Lemonade of the Gods, but using a half dozen Grannysmith apples and two lemons. Very nice.

I’m looking forward to trying all of these! Anybody try the kiwi-carrot?

Thanks for the suggestions posted thus far.
