Don’t give him too much credit for bravery. Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.
Agreed, but alas there are so many delusional, ill informed and/or stupid republican voters that are led like sheep and parrot these lies over and over again (like that idiot Jeffery Lord).
Too bad we cannot have an IQ test to qualify to vote! A simple low bar like 100 would eliminate about 2/3 of the Trump votes
{My emphasis added}
How do you feel about Trump saying he’d like Russia to hack into American government computers?
I’d like to hear Trump backers address this.
And also the fact that Trump is OLDER than Hillary. Bernie Sanders is also older than Hillary, but HER age is an issue, not either of the men’s.
But they never do, do they?
This *was one reason why Hillary needed to pick a younger VP- which she did. So did Trump for that matter. Neither seems to have health issues, both are a little *old for such a demanding job.
Sander’s age was a issue.
Both candidates have more baggage than the Orient Express. So if one focuses on what stupid, illegal, or… you will just pile up a mountain of crap on either of them. So I’m focusing on what they’ve done as opposed to what they have said. Trump has built some great buildings cheap enough so they could be rented/leased/bought. And still make a profit. These project’s take an enormous amount of planning. Cutting to the quick if one can do the kinds of things Trump has done he -may- be able to run the country. Now Hillary has gotten a law degree which is something, She married Bill which has been instrumental in her career. She given some great speeches worth millions I guess, but as for a real job… little seems to have worked out. But I’m keeping an open mind. What has Hillary accomplished?
Lets see who falls for it.
I’m voting for Trump. I would have preferred Walker or Cruz, but Trump is my third choice. And the ONLY choice when compared to Obama 3.0 aka Hillary.
Things in his favor? He actually has the balls to say “America First” and “Illegal immigration is bad” and “Government is too big.” Can you imagine O or H saying any of those things? Plus his stated litmus tests for SCOTUS candidates agrees with me. He may well be lying and misrepresenting what he will do. But at least he is TRYING to look like a candidate I can get behind. Hillary says the exact opposite of everything I want to see happen in our government.
People always say they are tired of government as usual, career politicians, same old same old. Yet when someone arises who actually breaks that mold? All they can do is complain.
Really?
Trump’s failures include:
Trump Airlines – Fail
Trump Vodka – Fail
Trump Casinos – Fail, (disastrously so, leaving his creditors in the lurch and harming the overall casino environment for Atlantic City)
Trump Magazine – Fail
Trump Steaks – Fail
GoTrump.com – Fail
New Jersey Generals of UFL – Fail
Trump University – Scam and Fail
Trump Mortgage – Fail, (another real estate disaster)
The “Great Buildings” that he built include Trump Tower, (built using illegal and underpaid (or never paid) immigrants), and Trump Place. Both are very successful, (especially if one does not look too closely into the various legal shortcuts used to get them built). He has also renovated several buildings, sometimes successfully and sometimes dodging out to leave his investors in the lurch while he took home the cash involved.
Defending Ms. Clinton is off topic for this thread, but your dismissal of a former Senator and former Secretary of State in addition to numerous other efforts is simply sad. Disagreement is fine, but it should be based on something more than the lies of Donald Trump.
You really should compare Trump’s list of failures to his much, much longer list of successes if you want to present a fair argument.
That’s precisely what I hate about American conservatism. You can acknowledge on the one hand that Hillary has skeletons in her closet and has made bad decisions, but you’ll never hear acknowledgement from the other side. Conservatives complain about the budget but forget that their hero Ronald Reagan left office having doubled the GDP ration. They complain about terrorism on Obama’s watch but forget that Bush allowed the largest terrorist attack on US soil. Nobody politicized it – nobody thought that they had to. But we live in different times now. If you want to argue that some democrats politicized the Iraq war in 2006, okay, I’ll go along with that, but again, if Bush and Cheney had been straight from the beginning there wouldn’t have been an Iraq war.
The problem with American conservatism is that it’s no longer conservative. Traditionally, conservatism is consistent with wisdom, and checking the idealism that comes from Utopian liberals. It has never been at odds with science – skeptical of new and developing theories perhaps but never to the point of denying what the scientific community says. American conservatism is a cult.
She’s had six fewer bankruptcies than Trump has.
And two fewer spouses.
And hundreds of fewer successful businesses and thousands of fewer employees whose jobs she actually created.
Seriously? Sticking by serial philanderer Bill counts as a good thing?
What would you say are the highlights of his career?
And none of these projects involve any experience at all in the public sector. Don’t get me wrong – you could argue that a successful entrepreneur is qualified to run local and perhaps state government, provided that they demonstrate some understanding of the issues and how public and private sector can most effectively cooperate. And also provided that they are willing to hire advisors who know what they’re doing. But to believe that someone can just move from the private sector into what is arguably the most complex public sector position on the planet is just defying any reasonable explanation.
I don’t disagree that Hillary has made poor decisions and she’s less than the ideal candidate. I might also be willing to give someone like Trump more serious consideration if he were to demonstrate that he has any understanding of the presidency and its role in domestic and foreign affairs. But the fact that he’s built buildings - I won’t even touch his bankruptcies - in no way qualifies him to run as president.
Think about it in the reverse: if someone like Barack Obama, who’s been mostly a public sector guy his whole life, were to walk into the role of Google or Exxon CEO, would that make sense? Or would you at least want him to serve on the board or serve at a lower level or as an exec in a mid-level company first?
Sure there are people who complain about the government. But have you ever asked them exactly what’s wrong. Not things like “career politicians” or “same old same old” I’m talking about specifics. Same question who say we need to make America “great” again. When, in your opinion, did America stop being great? Why do you think we’re not great?
The United States is the richest country in the world. We’re the strongest country in the world. We have a stable government that’s been working for over two hundred years. To my eyes, we’re a success. Let’s give our government a big gold medal.
What exactly are the problems you think we have? Why exactly should we be “breaking the mold” when our current system is working so well?
Why, then, are many of Donald Trump’s peers skeptical of his successes? Sure, he has some supporters, but seriously, as Warren Buffet has said, why would someone so successful and so proud of his accomplishments not show his tax returns? Why would any candidate who wants the highest office not honor this time-honored tradition? It’s seemingly pretty straightforward.
Maybe he’s much better at peddling the bullshit notion that he’s a ‘success’ than he is at running businesses. You know, until people finally found out that Arthur Andersen was cooking the books, Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling would have looked like business geniuses. Until the roof caved in, Bernie Madoff looked like a business genius. You have two types of tycoons: those who are really good at running businesses, and those who are really good bullshit artists. Trump is probably the latter.
