Who is Christopher Lloyd to you?

“Kirrrrrk, you don’t want to give me the Genesis Device? Okeedokee!”

There was a comedian who did a great Rev. Jim who had this as a bit.

Reverend Jim was Lloyd’s earliest defining moment, imo. He’s done a lot of great things before and after but I think this is the role is what set him apart as a great character actor who can play such memorable characters.

Doc Brown first, Rev. Jim second.

Didn’t even know his character in Taxi was called Reverand, I just knew him as Jim.

There are a few other somewhat surprising appearances of various actors on Star Trek. Other famous guest-stars are Kelsey Grammar, Kirstie Alley, Whoopi Goldberg (who once said that being a Trekkie led her to choosing an acting career), and Jason Alexander.

It’s close but I chose Doc Brown. I knew and loved him from Taxi before that and when BTTF came out my first thought was “that’s Jim Ignatowski!”, but if I’m honest, when I think of Christopher Lloyd Doc Brown is the first thing that comes to mind.

Reverend Jim for me, although he certainly proved his versatility in those other roles.

Let me mention John Bigbooté, from The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension

I want to say that was Kevin Pollak but I’m not 100% sure.

Anybody else think Kramer from Seinfeld was a little TOO much like the Reverend Jim Ignatowski character?

Maurice LaMarche?

thank you

I voted for Rev Jim. But one of my favorite underrated Christopher Lloyd appearances was Henry Sikorsky in The Dream Team.

First thing I thought of too. I loved that show, and that bit was one of the high points. “Crime fights back!” “And now he needs a machine…to poop!” God, that was a funny show.

Although I love the BttF franchise, nothing can ever top:

“What…does…a…yellow…light…mean?”

Foolish young whippersnapper! Doc Brown was just a less druggie/spacecase version of Reverend Jim.

My favorite Ignatowski scene is him eating Latka’s cocaine cookies with a connoisseur’s focus:

“Blue Mountains … [chews] … western face … [more chewing] … sun-grown … before the rains”*

*I don’t remember exactly what he said, except for “before the rains”, but seeing Rev. Jim acting like a cokehead sommelier was hilarious.

Not really seeing it. Kramer was more manic, and had something of a hustler vibe; he saw reality from an odd perspective. Jim didn’t see reality at all.

Didn’t vote, didn’t have my option, which would be “All of the Above and more”

Kramer: Hipster Dufus.
Rev Jim: burned out ex-Hippie.

Taber. The scene where he slowly realizes his leg is burning is priceless.

Before my time. I watched Taxi in it’s first run. I saw Cuckoo’s Nest much later. I was surprised to see Rev Jim and Louie Depalma in the cast.

Clue is one of my favorite movies, but Lloyd is Doc Brown, not Plum (who is more of a doctor than a professor).

Also known as the voice of the Brain and other 90s cartoon characters…
