" It turns out, there actually are multiple benefits to sun exposure for many systemic benefits; it’s one of the reasons I’m a nudist.
This video explains what one should do in the morning, from the well-regarded Dr. Roger Seheult (who had the most up-to-date and accurate info during the pandemic).
In other words, Shanahan MAY be correct that there is some benefit from morning sun vis-à-vis conception; however, her apparent dismissal of IVF as a serious treatment is worrying."
It is a reader’s comment on RFK, Jr’s choice of running mate. As far as I know, the main benefit of exposure to the sun is that it is a pleasant way of qualifying for a Darwin Award by eliminating a few idiots from the gene pool. But the only thing I could find on the web about the good doctor was actually a quite reasonable explanation of how the covid vaccine works.
No idea who Dr. Seheult is, but I will note that, a few years ago, I saw a therapist for a while. One of the things she did recommend to me was to get outside early in the morning, and spend some time under early-morning sunlight. She said that she’d read studies that suggested that sunlight at that time had benefits to mood and overall mental well-being.
Doing a little googling yields a lot of sites that claim this, though it does seem like a lot of them have some woo to them. One that looks not quite so woo-y:
Seheult may be less than a medical oracle. He’s quoted online as saying that the key strategy against Covid is to “boost” your immune system via lots of vitamin D, antioxidants, saunas and “contrast showers”.
“I do a hot shower for five minutes, and then I do cold for one minute. Then I do five for hot again, and then one for cold, and finish it up with three for hot and one for cold. Doctor Neil Medley from Weimar, California, has done a lot of research, and his clinic called Newstart has been doing this stuff and with amazing results.” – Dr. Roger Seheult
If he has time to spend over a quarter of an hour in the shower every day, to me that implies he doesn’t have much, if any, time pressure in his life. Not having that stress, rather than those other things, is likely a bigger factor in his technique for avoiding COVID.
