Who Is Eminem Sampling in "Lose Yourself"

In the Eminem song “Lose Yourself” there’s a guitar riff in the background that I think is sampled (not uncommon in rap music). Of course, it might not be sampled, in which case this thread is moot.

Anyway, the guitar riff sounds vaguely Led-Zeppelin-esque. Any ideas?

It’s “Dream On” by Aerosmith.

I don’t believe Em paid for the rights to it either.

I think you’re thinking of “Kashmir,” and I can see a vague resemblance.

That’s in “Sing for the Moment,” not “Lose Yourself.”

I can’t find the credits online now, and I’m going to speed home to try and see all of Arrested Development, but I don’t think another song is sampled in “Lose Yourself.”

If you don’t mind watching an iPod ad, you can listen to some of the song here.

Actually, it doesn’t sound like any guitars there, just keyboards. Pretty simple chord progression (but that doesn’t rule out a sample).

As best I can tell, the song was written by Eminem and Jeff Bass. I don’t see any credits for a sample or evidence that there was one.

If there were, it would have been ineligible for the Oscar that he won for it.

The song is called Kashmir by Led Zepplin

Perhaps it’s from “She’s Not There” or “Time of the Season” by The Zombies.

“Songs written by gorgeous men for $2,000, Alex.”

Page, Plant & Bonham I mean, not Marshall.
