I’m watching Being There, and in the scene where Chance meets the Russian ambassador, the ambassador asks Chance if he’s read “Krilov” (I may be misspelling) and that there is something “Krilovian” about Chance. I assume that this is a notable Russian writer, but other than that I’m at a loss. Maybe there isn’t even such a person, and it’s just a convenient point to use in the film. Does anybody know?
Well, there was the 19th century Russian folklorist and satirist, Ivan Krilov. Could the movie be referring to him? Here’s a biography.
