Who is ready for the return of the Late Night talk shows?

Fallon was too old to be a Tik Tok kid when he started and now he’s way past his “don’t use” date. He’s 49, for the record, same age as Seth Meyers and three years older than John Oliver.

Anybody here remember when Bob Hope was putting on Beatle wigs in his specials? The effect is almost the same.

I was interested in seeing how Colbert would address the five month gap, and was not disappointed. First a cold open with him out at sea, bearded, and then riding a dolphin back to the Ed Sullivan Theater (“Hey, you can’t park that dolphin here!”) Then the double monologue to cover all the news he’d missed.

I enjoyed Kimmel as well. He had Arnold Schwarzenegger on, which got a little tedious, but still glad to see Jimmy.

I’ll have to look for John Oliver on YouTube. I don’t know why I forget about that source all the time.

Well, someone wasn’t happy to see the shows return.

From Trump in the middle of night (Does he ever sleep?)

“Now that the ‘strike’ is over, the talentless, low rated CREEPS of Late Night Television are back,” Donald Trump ranted on his Truth Social website. “I knew there was a reason I didn’t want to see it settled - True LOSERS!!!”

In another post, he called them “poorly rated and not at all funny” and claimed the shows were a “major” campaign contribution to Democrats.

“Watch what is going on,” he wrote. “So interesting!”

They’re all so awful and he never misses an episode.

I like John Oliver… but I will watch a video and think, ‘oh this is great, I’m going to share this with my friends and family who really need to see this hard hitting, nuanced, well-constructed argum…’

and then he makes a joke about ungulate phalluses.

Ah well.

I watched the Neil DeG T clips on youtube. excellent! he gives me hope for the future.

And the Late Show team promptly put the quote
on a Times Square billboard !

Do you wonder what level of talent the hosts have or if it is just the writers

Well Colbert has a lot of talent as a writer and performer.

Fallon was terrible on SNL, always corpsing.

Kimmel had some talent for comedy, going all the way back to the Win Ben Stein’s Money.

The hosts have mad talent. Listen to their podcast Strike Force Five and try not to laugh. That was done during the writers strike to help pay those writers and it is the funniest podcast I have ever listened to, bar none.

Also, that podcast is very educational if you are interested in the history of late night talk shows.

Multiple thumbs up. Would recommend. Those guys are funny. Legit.

Jimmy Kimmel had Olivia Rodrigo on. Some of her music is catchy, but I didn’t care for the one she did on the show. But her interview was fun. She’s very sweet. Jimmy and his wife Molly picked up a “hitchhiker” on the way to taking their kids to school and it was Olivia. The kids were shocked and happy and it was really fun to watch.

I’m a new fan of Colbert and I enjoy his monologue, but I find his interview style to be off in some way.

I’m not a fan of Fallon. He comes across as insincere and he just does not make me laugh at all.

But I don’t question that they are all very talented. The writers are talented too, but not just anyone can deliver the lines in a funny way or respond to the guest they are interviewing with a funny response.

I’m so grateful for the fact that I can record the shows and watch them when I’m awake.
