Who is that guy in black in the new Simpsons opening?

I was watching it frame by frame admiring all its HD glory, and near the end in the quick pan to the Simpsons’ house there’s many of the ancillary characters shown. I can identify all of them except some guy in black who’s standing right behind Patty and Selma.

Anyone know who he is?

It almost looks like Ned Flanders in high-drama mode; it would make sense, since he’s not visible anywhere else in the intro. (If it’s not him, is he the biggest character not to appear in the intro?)

Really, though, it looks like Geraldo Rivera. Has Geraldo become a recurring character in the years I haven’t been regularly watching the show?

Matt Groening, perhaps.

I think it’s Chazz Busby from the episode Smoke on the daughter.

Just a slight hijack/comment…that is a huge cast of characters, and one day I went with my co-workers at the film studio in LA where I worked and our boss bought us lunch (a rare occurrence) at a semi-fancy restaurant not far from the film studio.
Seated next to our table was the ENTIRE cast and crew of The Simpsons!
I had the best seat and could overhear them talking - the actors were using Simpson voices every once in awhile and cracking up the rest of their table.
Even though I am not the biggest fan of the show, that was a day I will never forget!

Definitely.

Man, they really worked some minor characters into that shot- Buzzy only showed up last season. Then again I see Ralph Wiggum is playing on Frank Grimes’ grave, which is pretty funny!

Looks like Bob Fosse to me.

Err, make that Chazz Busby.

Haha! Never noticed God and the Devil shaking their eternal fists at each other before!

Hadn’t noticed that the Mayor and Miss Springfield are wearing each other’s sashes.

He’s got little round glasses on and no beard, just the mustache. That doesn’t look like Chazz or Matt.

Wow! I didn’t think this would be this tough.

Including the Chazz character seems a bit much. I can’t say I remember that episode too well, but how would he rate being in the opening?
I love the Frank Grimes grave, being that I still consider Homer’s Enemy to be the, Best-Episode-Ever.

The original Simpsons opening included Jacques, a bowling instructor who tried to seduce Marge, who also appeared in only one episode.

At first, I was thinking maybe Molloy, the senior citizen cat burglar, but he wore a turtleneck, not a chest-showing shirt.

Maybe you’re watching on your TV and can see better than what I’m getting from the screenshot, but I just see eyeballs, not glasses. If you do a Google images search it’s pretty clearly the same guy. The beard doesn’t show up very clearly in the shot but he’s got the same shirt and mustache and he’s striking a Fosse-esque pose.

Do these characters have names?

The kid to the right of Willie on the tractor.

The TV cameraman.

The two kids playing baseball with Millhouse.

The little girl to the right of Duff-Man.

He’s usually just The Squeaky-Voiced Teen. In three separate episodes, he was identified as “Jeremy,” “Mr. Friedman,” and Lunchlady Doris’s son.

Not that I can remember.

Lewis (the black kid) and Richard (gray hair). You don’t see them, or the puking kid, Wendell, too much these days, but they used to be close friends of Bart.

That’s Bart’s ex, Jessica Lovejoy. He’s had his “first kiss” about five times, but I think she actually was the first, in “Bart’s Girlfriend.” Meryl Streep did her voice.
