When I was young, it was widely acknowledged, even in polite company, that Dolly Parton was the standard for “huge boobs.” If you needed to make a joke involving an oversized rack, Dolly was the go-to gag. It was something that everyone knew.
But these days, actresses and singers and such all seem so skinny and waifish. Is there any single female today who is as widely recognized as Dolly was, for the same reason she was? Who’s the go-to big-boob standard?
Seconded, though I’ve heard more about here on the Dope than in all my other social interactions combined, and I really don’t think dropping her name would get much of a reaction in many circles. Honestly, Dolly Parton is probably still the Dolly Parton of this generation.
Jenny McCarthy is an idiot. Dolly Parton is no idiot.
But does she have Dolly’s huge…personality?
Part of Dolly’s fame was not only her boobs but her over the top “flashy-trashy” not to mention her enormous singing and songwriting talents.
She reveled in the persona she created and at the same time made it obvious that it was all in fun.
What about that woman that likes to sneak onto the field and kiss athletes. Morganna the Kissing Bandit, or something like that? If she’s still around, and IIRC, she had a huge rack…
It’s no longer boobs and the answer is Kardashian. You want to make a joke about a physical attribute that 30 years ago the punchline would have been “Dolly Parton”… you now just say “Kim Kardashian.”
True dat. OTOH, Dolly would have been an icon even without the boobs. The boobs and the big hair and skintight outfits got our attention, but without the personality and talent (and smarts), she wouldn’t have stuck around for so long.
If we’re talking about outstanding boobs and talent, there’s just Dolly.
Almost everyone knows who Dolly Parton is, almost everyone knows she’s stacked, and they’re not afraid to admit either because she’s wholesome. I don’t see that we have a younger equivalent to that yet.
Though she may have had various tucks and what-not, I’m pretty sure Dolly was naturally well-endowed. The money quote I remember from her on the subject was something like “If I hadn’t been born with them, I would’ve had some made.”
